Rooted also means something is damaged. "Your device is already rooted" is perfect Australian English.

well, i still dont regret my purchase.
because, at the time, it was a very great up and coming android phone. It looked (still does) a lot better than iphone 3(gs) imo.
But the problem is that at the time the app market was small, but i knew it would grow to be larger (and it did) and they never kept their word on updating it. They just stopped doing it and released a whole bunch of new phones that could handle it all.

If only they would make an update that would fix the lagg and would allow the hero to run ALL android apps and not just a select retarded few, it would be an awesome phone.
Hardware is hardware,  You can only improve it so much.  Consider a latest generation Android phone that will have at least Gingerbread standard.  One thing the Hero has goiing for it, is that, it actually is a good phone as a phone.  Pretty good battery life for an Android phone.  Works ok for youtube, music, and videos.  Just sucks for Market apps.  My 13 year old has one.  But he'll probably get my EVO when I get the EVO 3d.

That's one thing that is cool where I got my phone (Costco). They give you 90 days to exchange your phone for any reason at all. So at least if something better comes out within the first three months of your plan you get an update for free. You also don't have to deal with rebates, and they were $50 cheaper than the nearest competitor, threw in car charger/case. No brainer really.

I didnt know it was going to be like this in 90 days.
I wasnt aware of the hardware problems and as i said, i was still under the impression that they would make an update to fix the lagg, like they said they would.
The whole market thign and how it cant run certain app was something that came a lot later than 90 days, as the market in those 90 days was still very small.

The vast majority of android users I know are perfectly happy with their android phones. It just appears you (un)lucked out with a lemon. Shit, my brother inlaw is still rockin the original droid (which came out around the same time as the hero) with no "lagg" or market issues. Is it the fastest phone available? No. Does it do everything it was marketed to do? Yes. I'm sorry, and my point isn't to bruise your ego, but you just bought a sucky phone. I'd say luck of the draw, but with a thousand and one technology review sites out  I can't imagine anyone doing there homework and still claiming ignorance. Some, including myself, are ex-iphone users. .. why would someone go back to a mobile os that offered less in the way of devices and customization? Don't get me wrong, the iphone is a perfectly capable device. In fact I still suggest it to some people.. people who aren't tech-savvy. It's perfect for them.

Yeah i know.
Im not that tech-savvy so to say, i guess we had the same idea on that, because i always found droid to be too geeky for me until they came with htc sense (hence, the hero i bought).
The problem was that i bought pretty soon after it came out and all the reviews i read were very positive about it and claimed the minor issues that it had were no different than that of any other new phone and would be fixed. The low tech hardware didnt seem to be a problem at the time.

Shit happens i guess.

wtf is with this bullshit?!
Theres so many cool apps in the amrket that i cant get. And the few cool ones taht i can get are way too laggy.

For example:
I can get angry birds, but its unplayable due to intensee lagg.
I want to get tap tap revenge 4 and gun bros (friend of mine has em on his desire hd and theyre present in the amrket on the internet) but theyre not compatible with my phone.

Stupid shit like this is whats making me get an iphone once my current subscription ends.
angry birds lags on my friends iphone 3g or 3gs, dont remember. no lag at all on the evo
Pretty sure angry birds is an app you have to pay for on iphone. You'll need a credit card to get it.

I think ive only had some regrets once the app market really lifted off.
When i bought the phone i had absolutely no complaints, besides the few minor issues every phone has, which actually got fixed. Its only later on, when they started releasing new phones and stopped updating the hero like(they were planning on updating it) that i realised what was happening.

Its not so much the non-techy nature of the iphone that makes me want to get the 5, but also the fact that i use itunes as my main music player and that i have a macbook.
So its all very easy for me to sync/link to each other. mac app store seems a lot easier to use, although i will admit, android really made it a lot better than it used to be

I've used the Apple App store for years, and to be honest it's even more tricky. Just recently I had to put some real effort into figuring out how to apply a gift card for a purchase. I was setting up an itunes account for my Daughter, and despite having a gift card, they still wanted her to put in Credit Card information. It's also kind of ridiculous that you have to install iTunes on your computer just to activate and use your phone.

I can see how it can be annoying for someone that doesnt like/uses itunes, but i do.
So for me its easy. im also pretty familiar with the mac app store because lot of my firends and my brother has an iphone. So i guess im just really used to apples software, also because i have a macbook.
So for me making that step from droid to apple should be very easy.
