I prefer to say things as they are, I don't give a fuck. People telling me what I should or should not say can go fuck themselves.
The irony of guns, is that they can save lives.

i've never understood why people are so proud of their right to be a dickhead. i mean, sure, you can, but you're still a dickhead.

When did "not being a dick" suddenly turn into "politically correct"? Must have missed the memo.

Your sentence sounded like you were the politically correct type, and you are wrong. I don't take pride in being a dick.Spark wrote:

I'm not advocating political correctness in any way. PC is adjusting one's language/behavior to avoid upsetting a group of people who (generally) aren't the group actually involved in the issue. This is not a PC issue. When you see the impact of the word "retard" being used registering on the face of someone with a mental or physical disability, it clearly becomes something other than a PC issue.
I'm not a PC advocate. Never have been. But I'm also not an advocate of continuing to do something that hurts people who clearly have enough struggles in their lives and don't understand why someone would say something that they know is hurtful. It doesn't whether you agree that it is or not. It only matters that it is to the group affected.
A black person can understand that you're an asshole or that you mean no harm. So can a Hispanic, a Jew, and every other group in the PSA...except the one it's focused on.

By the end of 2011 i am pretty sure calling a cat a cat will not be tolerated.

In my experience the people who shoot their mouths off calling people idiots are the last people who should be doing so.

I agree 100% with this initiative to invent all new offensive words immediately.
Refags.
Refags.
I personally think South Park put it best with their 'fag' episode. Society has adopted the word for other purposes, it doesn't have the same meaning or posses any hatred towards a specific group any more. Personally I think that's a good thing if we can move past the past usage. It's the same deal with retarded, and to an extent gay. Using gay is a tough one, since its still used in its original context. I obviously don't mean any offence to gay people when I say it, and to be honest I'd probably prefer if I could stop using it, but force of habit, you know? I have gay friends who I've heard using gay in the same way. It's just part of common language with our generation.
I think racist slurs are more difficult just because there are plenty of people still alive today who lived in a time when society was less equal and those words were used to demean them. It'll probably take a lot longer to move past those words, but I'm quite sure we eventually will.
