funny thing is shifty really thinks people are going to read what he is saying and believe that he came to these conclusions all by himself and not that he was indoctrinated to believe that way from an early age

I disagree with your distinctions on different Christian faiths but also I'm not denying that there are positive religious outlets that don't reflect the greed an immorality that religion itself does. There are groups like the Salvation Army who collect and distribute for the less fortunate all the time. You can look at one local church and see no more than a positive community organisation. But this church will have ties to the wider religious community which as a whole reflects exactly what I'm talking about.-Sh1fty- wrote:
Don't confuse Christianity (Catholics are a perfect example of pretending to be Christians) with true Bible believers. I can assure you my church is not power hungry, etc. and all the Baptist churches I've visited before aren't either.
Anyway, my main point was on the falsely perceived ties between morality and religion.

Hmm. I guess I'm judging them on NZ grounds, the NZ arm certainly isn't as well off. I guess this supports my original point of course.Spearhead wrote:

They are PEOPLE and a RELIGION, they are 2 distinct things. I did not say ALL MUSLIMS are violent, nor did I say ALL CHRISTIANS try to cash in on Christianity.
I already asked you a question you bowed out from answering so I will try again. If you can state that different Muslims follow different aspects of Islam and to different degrees, why can I not judge EACH Muslim accordingly instead of you insisting I mean ALL MUSLIMS when I talk about Islam?
You really can't hate the religion without hating those that practice it, because without the practice the reason for hating the religion wouldn't arise ...
So when you say Islam is violent you condemn its followers to be violent.
This is logic lowing and everyone but you seems to get it so stop making excuses for separating the religion from the its belivevers.
So when you ask:
The answer is quite simply: When you generalize a religion like that you also generalize its followers, had you rather pinpointed that you speak of a violent radical Islam I would agree but you don't ...lowing wrote:

I will give you time to think about what you just wrote, and consider if you are willing to apply that logic to everything and everyone else in life, before I respond. Think about the inconsistency in your logic if you say no, and irrationality of it, if you say yes.Varegg wrote:

There is no inconsistency in my logic, neither is there any irrationality ... and I've given it much thought like I do in all cases before I form an opinion ...

"A California woman named Lyn Benedetto was one of millions who heard Camping's message, and became concerned that her daughters would suffer terribly in the coming apocalypse. She allegedly forced her daughters, 11 and 14, to lie on a bed and then cut their throats with a box cutter. She then tried to kill herself, though police arrested Benedetto and all three survived."

Thats what I thought you would say. Ok so, for the record then, when you belong to ANY group, organization, religion, nationality, race, political affiliation, etc. individual thought, action and decisions is out the window and you are all linked to the commonality of that group as a like minded collective. Is that what you are telling me? and this is rational thinking on your part?Varegg wrote:

Ya that's one of the reasons religion is so dangerous when someone who's mentally unhinged is influenced to that degree.11 Bravo wrote:

Virtually any message is a danger to a psychopath. They posses a completely different rationale. The real scary thing is that these deranged people often go unnoticed.. or at least aren't identified as a threat.Jaekus wrote:

An undiagnosed Schizophrenic person is particularly dangerous. Remember the guy that decapitated and cannibalized the man on a bus in Canada?
McLean, a 22-year-old Canadian man, was stabbed, beheaded and cannibalized while riding a Greyhound Canada bus about 18 miles (29 km) west of Portage La Prairie, Manitoba traveling the Trans Canada Highway
Li's trial commenced on March 3, 2009, with Li pleading not criminally responsible. This means that he accepted that the offence occurred but he claimed that he was unable to form the necessary mental element or mens rea. Despite Li having no documented history of mental illness before the killing, a testifying psychiatrist diagnosed Li as having schizophrenia. The psychiatrist said that Li performed the attack because God's voice told him McLean was a force of evil and was about to execute him. The presiding judge accepted the diagnosis, and ruled that Li was not criminally responsible for the murder. Li was remanded to the Selkirk Mental Health Centre. Though he had not fully emerged from the psychotic phase, the psychiatrist said that Li was beginning to realize what he had done, though he cannot accept that he cannibalized McLean.
On February 16, 2011, two passengers, Debra Tucker, of Port Colborne, Ontario, and Kayli Shaw, of London, Ontario, filed a lawsuit against Vince Li, Greyhound, the RCMP and the Government of Canada for being exposed to the horrific beheading. They are each seeking $3 million in damages

I love it, you get to sue and get rich because SOMEONE ELSE got decapitated. if you can't earn it yourself, take it from someone that has.Kmar wrote:

At the most I could possibly see compensation if they had therapy to pay for. Truthfully that's got to be a fucked up thing to see. But 3 mil? gtfo
