British woman beheaded in attack in Canaries

A British woman has been beheaded in a shop in Spain's Canary Islands, officials say.

Spanish media said a homeless Bulgarian man had been arrested in the town of Los Cristianos.

Witnesses said a man entered a Chinese supermarket in a shopping centre and stabbed then beheaded the 62-year-old woman. He is said to have dropped the head outside before being tackled.

A local official said the man appeared to choose his victim at random.

Witnesses said the man entered the Chinese supermarket in Valdes Shopping Centre and attacked the woman without saying a word.

Personally, I believe that beheading is a comparatively humane way of executing someone. As in a beheading, the brain loses connection with the spine. All pain sensation must pass through the spine before heading to the brain, this way a reaction to the pain can be made more quickly, and it also prevents someone from remembering pain. For this reason, I believe that decapitation is more humane than say, shooting someone. As if you shoot someone, the kill is often not as fast, and the spine remains connected to the brain which means that some pain might be felt.

Try with a dull blade, starting from the throat side, slicing rather than chopping style.

Here we go again...
I think Doctor Strangelove was talking about execution, like a guillotine.

Probably shot. The idea of disfigurement kinda grosses me out, not that it matters after you're gone, but yeah.

Either way all executions have the anticipation, that's the point I was making.

Me too..., the idea of what is about to happen to you, your hands tied behind your back, the long walk to the platform, the forced kneeling over a bucket, the anticipation, is so mortifying, that unto itself, is worse than any actual suffering you would endure in my opinion. Making the anticipation factor far worse and greater than being shot. Not that either one would be a picnic

Yeah I think beheading has a certain indignity to it, like your death is made to be a spectacle. Being shot seems much more dignified IMO.
