Is this guy for real…..Michael Fitzpatrick?

Could not actually believe it first when I looked here,

http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=31695

Is this not to go a bit too far, what about freedom?

Now of course I don’t like online (mostly sexual) Predators.

What do you Americans think off this new bill (only 72 hours “old”)?

Not gonna pass. It infringes on the first amendment, the freedom to speech, whether it is online or in real-life.

All BF2s has to do is to limit what under-18-olds can enter into their profile. Pretty simple.

This will never fly in the US congress.  They can only decide appropriately and quickly to give themselves a big fat raise in salary.  If this bill makes it out of the House of Representatives, it will die a quick and painless death in the Senate.  By the time that simple process is over, any of you that arent 18yrs of age, probably will be.  Imo, this should be treated as a non-issue.  Hundreds of bills are passed thru the House, something like 5% make it thru, and most of those have had the language chg'd so as to hardly resmeble the original idea.  My advice...dont sweat the small stuff, and for sure this is small stuff.

Hey i may be a kid, but i at as mature as my 15yr old mind will let me. personaly i think that the new bill will have some good points such as protection for the vile scum that is child preditors, but it will also decrease the amount of civil freedoms that america has enjoied for more than two centuries.

Never pass, it was a funny read though.

Listen if these kids parents cannot track were there kids are going, it's there fault.

What the fuck ever happend to acountability?

Kids does great in school and the parents are always there to show what great role models they are.

Kids gets arrested, parent shows up and says "It's the friends he hangs out with".

No asshole, your shitty parents.

I have a 9 year old daughter, best thing in the world to have kids (IMO).  It humbles you greatly.

Now I know where she goes online, because I track her.  These parents need to stop witht he creative memory parties for a bit and pay a little attention to there children.

If you're talking about civil freedoms in general, they have been modified constantly by congress over that 200 year period. As with every new technology or idea, Congress has to tweek each civil liberty to fit the circumstance. I am no way a conservative. I'm more libertarian on the freedoms and liberties issues. I would not go for any bill that limited internet to adult Americans but when it comes to children, the government needs to do it's job in proctecting them. Children do not have those liberties you speak of.

Children do not live on their own and enjoy the freedoms and liberties of every American. They have parents, and most of those parents cannot afford the luxury of paying internet security officials to protect their children. So they support the governement to do this collectively through a nationwide tax and law. If your parents think it's ok for you to go hang out with adults on MySpace, then have your mom or dad make you an account for you to use. If they say no, then you have no one to blame for it other than your parents.

It's not about accountability, it's about gullibility. Most parents of teenagers have "no clue". There's no way to educate every parent out there on how to use a computer, much less control the viewing content of a windows user. Typically, kids know more about computers than the parent does.
