'Slut walk' is stupid. People who think "she was asking for it" are stupid. Rape isn't about how a woman is dresses. The trick is not making oneself look like any easy target/victim. Cheeky has a point here. It's not saying, "she asked for it" or "she deserved it" for dressing in a particular way. It fully recognizes that the fault/blame for the crime lies with the criminal who committed the crime. However, just as with any crime, there are factors on the victim's part, that had they taken them into account and mitigated them, the crime may very well not have occurred because the victim would likely not have found themselves in the circumstances that led to the crime being committed. It can be applied to any number of crimes, not just sexual assaults...how do you think those "preventive" courses they teach get their material?

This is just a crime that is more emotionally charged than others, so people aren't as willing to approach it or discuss it in the same manner, even though we, in fact, do treat it in the same manner.
