With how the AI still loves to clump up, there is no reason not to specialize in this weapon as a supplement for horse archery. Not only can you ride ahead of your main force, you can blow up a huge chunk of clustering melee guys, then circle the muskets with your horse archery skills without taking so much as a hit. If you tell your cavalry to wait behind a bit, you should be able to kill off the majority of a 50-strong opposition before any of your guys get in range.

So yeah, this setup is pretty much a 17th century equivalent of an attack helicopter. Just remember to carry along a sword with at least swinging attacks on the offhand chance you run out of arrows.

How the hell did you manage to save up that much money.
Also do you carry 1 large or 2 medium grenades?

Trading & looting. Notice that I don't have much in the way of armor.

With the clusters of enemies, the large grenade has the greatest potential for army-killing damage, but I've recently taken to carrying a sack of small grenades for the practical purpose that I'd rather kill three small groups than have to herd everyone up into a giant human cluster. That way, I don't have to choose between taking out the pikemen or the musketmen.

No worries though, large grenade went to a companion.

e: This game is still a bit on the glitchy side. I feel that money is directly pickpocketed off of me whenever I visit the merchant's guild. When I deposit cash there, it seems like I leave with even less than I should have after such a deposit.

Pfft, not even.  I can't count the times my 6 year old placed first on his team, even when he's goofing around half the time. taking a bite on his sandwich or drinking juice between kills.

For combat? Basically take this:

unnamednewbie13 wrote:

Spoiler (highlight to read):
Best way I found to combat it is to bring two sacks of arrows, the best bow you can carry and as much power draw, horse archery, riding and bow skill you can possibly spam. Leave your dudes at the start of the map and just ride sideways, shooting anyone with a boomstick until you run out of arrows. The targeting AI is still kinda wonky, so they don't really know how to lead a shot, nor do the pikemen I usually find with them know how to simply stand their ground and keep their softer buddies from getting trampled (what they do know how to do is ball up and try to chase you in circles).
And when you can afford to, throw grenades into the mix.

For the troops themselves:

Spoiler (highlight to read):
Marksmen center, pikemen/halberdiers rear, cavalry left. Take yourself and your companions (if on horseback) and/or ranged cavalry out to harass the enemy from horseback with gunfire, arrows and grenades. The AI is good at skirmishing, so just make sure to keep your distance and keep moving. Meanwhile, it should be open season on enemy dudes for your marksmen. If the enemy draws close to your marksmen, order your infantry to advance ten paces to interpose themselves and what is likely the first bits of cavalry that got through. Let them take out the horsemen.

While this happens, pull your skirmishers back to keep them from getting overwhelmed. After a point, what's mostly going to be left is enemy infantry and bowmen/musketmen. Move your spearmen/halberdiers right to give your musketmen a clear shot. If the enemy after all that still gets close, then have your reserve cavalry and the infantry you moved to the side rush in. If you're feeling vindictive, send your skirmishers to wait in the path of retreat.

If you're relying heavily on armored infantry, stick to the areas that are still using the bow, because without combined arms, the guns are going to take you apart. It's possible with some configurations to keep a force purely based on ranged units. Musketmen can be outfitted appropriately to deal with cavalry up close on their own terms and can even turn the tables on dedicated melee infantry with their skirmishing AI, but you shouldn't have to.

For cash, caravans and loot. Some missions pay off nicely. Don't pick any fights you don't think you can win, and don't throw your lot in with any nation before you think you can take not being able to enter certain cities unmolested. And watch out for massive and well-equipped deserter parties. I can't stress this enough...as soon as you can, grab grenades; any size of grenade. With a high skill, the small ones are great. With a low skill, the large ones can compensate, and are still devastating with a high skill.

what does not wanting to see scoreboards have anything to do with my opinion of the game? other game forums with 'post a screenshot' threads (e.g. overclockers) have a strict NO SCOREBOARDS rule. why? BECAUSE THERE'S ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO LOOK AT. a high-score is not aesthetically pleasing, beautiful, inspiring, nor interesting. who wants to read a spreadsheet with a glimpse of the game previewed behind it? oh wait, nobody. incidentally his scoreboard just so happens to be even more fucking stupid because he's playing a pubnub game. which just makes it even more stupid.

I like the challenge of having a tiny park. You have to really cram everything in and make the most of every square of space.

In this park I have:
2 Rollercoasters (both underground)
5 Thrill Rides
4 Gentle Rides
1 Go Karts
And some shops. The only complaint the guests have is "It's too crowded". And I have loads of space left over for future expansion too.
