nerding out on something you like academically is a bit different from an MBA. as i said, everyone i know personally (i.e. direct relatives) that have mba's are pretty much braindead except for their 'business acumen'. that's what i was speaking out about. and i'm not denying that someone getting an mba could be interested in anything else. hence why i asked is that what they're interested in and what pushes their buttons. i'm intrigued to know because i don't understand the mentality of business-students (note the vocational stress rather than the academic) because to me it's cold meat.

I start my MBA in the fall. It was either that or a masters in econ and the MBA made more sense because of my current field (engineering). I want to own my own business one day and I view this as just one step along that path. Corporate politics doesn't excite me at all.

You're right to a certain extent I guess. Business schools seem to attract people with a jock mentality. Probably has a lot to do with the cretinous manner in which many of them act after they join the ranks of the nouveau-riche. C'est la vie.

that's what i mean. every business/management/econ student i meet here at university (an academic environment, if there ever can be one) and they're all totally unacademic, moronic and just in it because they think it's one step further on the ladder to a bmw and a nice flat. that's defying the point of an education to me (call me a classicist). it's all to do with that late-capitalistic habit (as a post-marxist philsopher would have it) of education slowly becoming a treadmill to jobs, rather than a humanist endeavour. i'm principally opposed to that.

Well, I'm doing the MBA because the actual coursework interests me, not necessarily because of the money bump I'll get on the other side. The money is just a nice bonus.

my girlfriend works at ascot racecourse and she gets ripped by rich drunken cunts all the time that go there, inevitably lose a fuckload of money, then get pissed on gin and champagne and make passes at the young, hot waitresses. i think royal ascot is pretty much the total ultimate in that sort of cunt activity.

Got friends that work at Chester racecourse, same happens there, usually get a load of footballers from the prem going to Chester too.
