The only thing that annoys me (and only to a minor degree) is how everyone is acting like Obama strangled Osama with his own two hands. Most likely the most Obama did was say "okay go ahead" when intel came through. I guess it's American tradition to put everything on the president.
Anyways, I was watching the local Fox channel when they interrupted Simpsons for the news. Geraldo Rivera had fucked up and said "It's confirmed, Obama is dead." He's getting too old for that sort of thing.
Uh, no. Nobody I've seen is saying this was all Obama's doing. Almost every statement I've seen is in support of the SEALs. What I've also seen is people giving Obama a piece of the credit, which he absolutely deserves. Is he the main reason for this? No. Was it as simple as just saying "yes"? Absolutely not.
It really was though. You think he's taken any part in planning operations? I would hope not. He's got zero military background. About the only role he would play is to say 'go'. To then get credit is rather absurd.
Yeah, I'm sure that's exactly how it went... what happens if it fails? What happens if the compound if boobytrapped and all of ST6 there gets blown to bits? What if the proper planning isn't done and he slips away
again? What if the whole situation goes Carter-Iran hostage situation? There's so many things that had to be taken into considering, and I'm sure Obama was thoroughly involved with them. Brennan was right. It
was a gutsy decision, because this could have gone very poorly for us. It didn't, and it was handled with much dilligence by all involved. For that I'm grateful.
I'm no huge Obama fan, but to not give him some credit where it's due on a major success like this is the only thing that's absurd.
