A lot more stable than if Gaddafi bombed his refineries, no doubt.

It's not a far stretch to imagine he would. I'd rather not take the risk.

Look, gas prices are rising over here. Why did we get involved in Libya?

More like the Middle East, some fucking event happens there, an extra boost in gas prices. Getting annoyed with that.

Only way to fix that is get rid of corn ethanol, then drill our own oil and natural gas on and near our own continent. Politicians suck

If you tap every well in the U.S. you won't bring down gas prices at all.

The oil market reacts badly to instability in high oil producing places. Gaddfi was finishing off the rebels at the time we got involved. HE ALMOST MADE THE PLACE STABLE. Our attack prolonged the destabilization.

You can defend the NFO all you want but you have no argument when it comes to gas prices.

I'm not going to defend the NFO, I don't care about the ethics of this conflict.

It isn't a far stretch to imagine a dictator that has no problem cluster bombing his civilian population wouldn't then bomb an oil refinery in rebel held land. It's pragmatic at this point to remove Gaddafi.

no it doesnt
So a country with the 9th highest oil reserve in the world has no effect whatsoever on oil prices?

Ok.

I don't care about the ethics of it either. My argument against it was from a purely pragmatic point of view.

Re: blowing up an oil refinery. He wouldn't, he as you said is a dictator. He doesn't care about his own people he cares about his life of luxury. He wouldn't blow up something that produces money and continues his luxury.

If it isn't within his control it isn't making him money.

Like I said. The rebels were on the way out. He would have gotten control of the refinery's eventually. After putting down a civil war do you think it would be nice to have all of your refineries or to be down 1, 2, or 3 for no reason?

I'm debating the here and now, so like I said...
