I give you the most average of average cars Europe has to offer, the Vauxhall Astra

Apart from the leather and the TV screen even the most basic models have that interior (my piddly 1.6l rental did anyway ).
I don't see anything impressive about that.
That's sort of the point, it's not 'impressive' as such it's just for one of the more basic cars we have over here it's interior is (I imagine) much better than anything on a comparable American car.

That is probably THE most average car we have over here it's not awful and it's nothing special, I'm waiting to see some American interiors in the same price bracket (£12-14k) to pop up.

Not an American car.  I would put up Lexus interiors versus the BMW and Land Rover examples, but they's ain't American.

I'm saddened though about the direction Honda is going though.  Starting to use cheaper quality plastic and trim, following what Toyota has been doing in the last few years.

Well, I posted the pics in the context of American interiors somehow being dumbed down vs Euro interiors.

The shoulder-rest addition is quite interesting though.  Takes into account our traffic/rush-hour and boring highways I guess.

Not saying our interiors are replaced with crap when they're sold over there, just saying that interiors on American made cars are generally poorer than European and in this case Japanese interiors.

That said the Caddy CTS-V interior looks nice, it is over £55k though so cant really call it average.

Right, but I've heard people state here that BMW and other manufacturers install different interiors into cars they make for the American market.

I cant see that being true (other than swapping the side the driver sits on maybe).  Personally I'd never considered the possibility of a car being totally redesigned for another country, just seems like a massive waste of time and money.

What American built cars are there for around $30k?  We only get the highish end stuff over here (like that CTS-V) so I know jack shit about what to look for.

$30K? I guess the Camaro, Mustang or Charger would fit that bill. Or the Silverado, F-150 or Ram for light trucks.

Chevy Impala (from their website):

Interior:

That goes for $24k or so.
