i guess i can understand that. it's just that the issue with religion is that it's a touchy subject because it's not really arguable. religion is illogical. nobody is ever going to win an argument because it's impossible to prove. and since religion is a way of life, the argument can easily be turned into an attack on the other person's choice of how to live.menzo wrote:

yes, i've had arguments about the big bang and etc. but, i've never heard of one person trying to convince another to hold the same opinion as they do; whether it's atheism, christianity, judaism, hinduism, etc.menzo wrote:

if i went around trying to convince people to be catholic, i would feel like a disrespectful douchebag. i also thought that most people had this same belief. apparently that doesn't hold up at bf2s though
it is true I've never won an argument because it mostly gets cut of with a phrase like: "that is all good and well but i still think ... is the truth" I is usually dont attack the way of life, only the beleive that there is a supernatural being that created everything etc.HaiBai wrote:

on bf2s i feel like it is an attack on religion. why? maybe it's because almost everyone here is atheist. maybe it's because me, shifty, and warman, who are the youngest and perhaps most ignorant on these forums are religious.
but with people that i know, it's not like someone thinks that all christians are idiots because some lady attacked a painting.
Why on earth would you do that? What purpose does it serve besides pissing people off? I have never in my thirty years on this planet ever seen someone go 'You know what? You're right. I've been wrong about this religion thing my entire life.' Never. There's really nothing douchier than evangelicals be they theist or not.menzo wrote:

lolnuts
I don't see where atheists get the nerve to say to theists that god isnt real. Most of religion is just culture, but the idea of an omnipotent being controlling everything is as valid a theory as atheism. By telling theists that god isnt real is doing the exact same what so many atheists hate about christians: Forcing them to think as you do. The way that atheist dont believe in a god is the same way as theists do.Jay wrote:

I understand the sarcasm, because sarcasm is all you could ever show in a story like this.ghettoperson wrote:
