I said I judge everyone as individuals by their actions. I judge religions by their teachings. As you address God, I spoke of the MAN Christ and the MAN Muhammad and THEIR teachings, not the fire and brimstone bullshit of the OT. Now, are you trying to tell me there is no difference between the 2 teachers and their teachings?Uzique wrote:

all religious teachings are essentially intolerant and aggressive. that's how religion maintains and perpetuates itself.
On what do you base your opinion on the teachings of Islam? Have you read the Koran? Or have you simply read a website or two where you absorbed someone elses opinion on what he probably read third hand?lowing wrote:

You say you judge everyone as individuals all of a sudden, I could have sworn you judged a tax evader on basis of him being a democrat in another thread ...
Wait behind the line ..............................................................
If the website you don't like posted quotes from the Koran, does that mean the quotes are wrong? I take what I read what I see, what has been stated and what has been done to draw my conclusions. Not sure how you can draw a conclusion that Islam is a tolerant peace loving, champion of equality but hey, it is your opinion.Jay wrote:

That sounds incredibly tolerant and inclusive to me.
Point is, anything can be made to look bad if taken out of context. I could rip through the Bible and point out how awful and violent Christians are if I wanted to.

"If anyone harms (others), God will harm him, and if anyone shows hostility to others, God will show hostility to him." Sunan of Abu-Dawood, Hadith 1625.
"Those who believe (in the Qur'an), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians...and (all) who believe in God and the last day and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve." The Qur'an, 2:62
This sounds incredibly intolerant and violent. Holy shit!

i never understood the distinction between the old testament and the new testament for christians
most nutjob hardcore christians derive their scriptural teachings from the OT... why are the moderate christians ashamed of it?
why would god turn over a new leaf in the new testament? doesn't really seem his style. being god and all.

Probably not, simply because being a conservative, there would be no hypocrisy of raising my taxes while evading theirs.Varegg wrote:

no the point is: compare the messenger Christ and his teachings as a human, to those of the messenger Muhammad and his teachings as a human. See if you can leave the witchcraft and fire and brimstone out of it.Jay wrote:

I am going to get one of those free Korans sent to me. As much as people argue about it I might as well read the damn thing.
why bother, regardless as to what you pull from it, if someone here doesn't like it, they will just tell you it is open for interpretation, call you a racist and beat their chest in victory lolMacbeth wrote:

What kind of written work isn't open for interpretation?lowing wrote:

Hell, the Bill of Rights is basically a list and we're still arguing what "the people", "unreasonable", and "cruel and unusual punishments" mean.
now THAT is a good point.DesertFox- wrote:

people have been making that point to you repeatedly for years

and I have reserved my opinions by those that ACT with violence and intolerance for years, something you have just refused to acknowledge.Uzique wrote:

which is why, since I have been here have ever included "all Muslims" in any of my rants. Islam however by its teachings is violent and intolerant, or was Muhammad being a warrior, fighting wars, conquering, or beheading 600 people a "mis-interpretation". How many people did Jesus slaughter by the way?
There is a reason you absolutely refuse to compare the 2 messengers of Christ and Muhammad, without bringing in the witchcraft and fire and brimstone form the OT you simply can't, you would loose.
How many people did Christians slaughter in the name of Jesus? This is another dead end argument btw.
