That does seem a little low but tbh 750w, should be ok.

Well I plugged in everything that needs power, that's what they gave me. It does seem a bit low to me, but yes, 750w is more than enough. And if it breaks and they say you were overloading it, point them at their own calculator

According to Toms Hardware a single GTX 460 in 3D mode will draw about 200w for the full system.

Well you'd want a ~530w PSU to handle a 490w draw anyway as PSUs are generally around 80% efficient.  That calculation is still quite incorrect though, I've got a fairly hefty amount of crap in my PC but only one GTX460, I'm still running a 2 year old 535w, it runs ok but, I am right on the limit, I did have a 6th hard drive in recently and it started to fall over from time to time

750w will do you fine and give you room for upgrades.

TEP, I thought the 80% efficiency means for a 800W PSU it'd pull 1000W from the plug?

It does.

ed: Your PSU output degrades over time, though.

Looks fine to me....

They do specify that is a continuous power draw requirement and not peak power, whereas the power specified by the manufacturers will always be peak power. You need to add at least 30% to that, 40% to be on the safe side.

If you have a good PSU, you can run a suprising amount from even a 400W one....

For the 80% efficiency rating badges they're throwing on everything these days yes it does, that said, I've never known a PSU actually be able to run at it's maximum load for any long period of time either, they just crap out under the strain so you want about a 20% buffer, hence what I said.

I'm hoping my 650W can handle crossfired 5850's. The min wattage says 532 with all bells and whistles and 10% cap aging, so we'll see..

Need to switch to Virgin soon. Sky are abiding by Offcoms new legislations whereas Virgin are deciding to go against them. Added to the fact that it's the best internet available in the UK by some margin.

Up here Virgin lines are pretty solid.

Meaning that if they see any "weird and wonderful" behaviour on the internet they flag it and send it to Offcom so they can pursue the matter. Whereas Virgin has stood by the people and said they will not release such information.

We got a letter through the post the other day saying Fiber is available in my area, despite looking into it when it first came out. Virgin said they'd have to dig up my road. Said it'd be £2-3K. Said they wouldn't pay for it. So we'll see what they say when I phone them and tell them about the letter they sent me

Way better latency and upload speeds.

BT Infinity gets ~ 3x the upload speeds that Virgin gets. Also, Virgin are fucking incompetent - I was getting Virgin installed, but they were fucking everything up so much and couldn't even get the contract details worked out properly so I sent them away half way through the installation process.

That's what it says up until it is activated. BT are not much good at informing people about rollout dates - which is why I advised checking using SamKnows...
