What if I don't gamble? I don't really want to hang around in casinos for days, I'd prefer to find bars and clubs. Any really awesome ones I can't miss?
You're going to be hanging around in casino's, because they're the hotels that have things going on. But definitely, you don't need to gamble at all. Vegas has some of the best clubs in the world.
Clubs that you should look out for
Wynn/Encore: XS, Tryst, Surrender
Cosmopolitan: Marquee
Hard Rock: Vanity
Venetian: Tao, Lavo
Bars wise I'm not too familiar with, other than stopping at the odd casino bar to get a drink. They aren't really the sort of places you'd spend a whole evening, like you would elsewhere in the world.

Yeah I figure that with the bars. I don't want to plan it too much, but having a vague notion of what could be cool at least gives us a starting point. So if we're just wandering around and we see a place that's been recommended, we can go in and check it out
Don't casinos have free buffets? Also a pretty good sampling of hookers.Jaekus wrote:

Otherwise casinos suck.
Make sure you take ID. I got carded repeatedly at 30.

Fuck Israel
I'll need my passport won't I? They wouldn't accept an Australia driver's licence?
Passport is best, but have one ID and leave it in the room safe in case you lose it when drunk.
Last thing I want to do is lose my passport. That would suck a bag of dicks.
You don't want to be carrying around your passport, Aussie photo licence with a date of birth should be fine.
Fuck Israel
Great. Got my licence for sure, should all be sweet.
Passport is staying at the hotel and locked away at all times.

I wouldn't. Bring your passport to be sure.Cybargs wrote:

Well, I will have to be bringing my passport to the US in the first place...
I've never had any issue using my Dutch residence permit (which obviously is in Dutch) to get served at casino bars around town, but I always bring my passport when out at night to avoid any complications. I make sure to keep a photocopy of it in my room though, which hopefully would accelerate things a little with the consulate if I lost it.
That's a good idea on the photocopy. I guess I'd just need to be very careful.
west coast sucks

They won't have douches like that in Yosemite, surely?
they have douches everywhere jaekus.
This is true. Where is the least douche-prone place though, out of Vegas, San Fran and LA?

Vegas has steroid douchebags, LA has actors and agent douchebags, and San Francisco has gay douchebags. I think where ever you go you're out of luck.
None of the above.Jaekus wrote:

Bunch of tourists, bunch of dirty hippies/fascist 'liberals', or a bunch of fake people. Pick your poison.

Did you factor in travel time and time to re-energize?Jaekus wrote:
Yeah, we've covered this
4 nights in Vegas
1 night in Sedona
Maybe 1 night in Phoenix, get an early flight to San Fran, get a car and drive straight to Yosemite.
2 nights in Yosemite, drive back to San Fran
4-5 nights in San Fran, then drive to LA, probably stop for the night somewhere and take the ocean road.
2-3 nights in LA before heading home.
Good you aren't going east. Time zone travel kills time big time.
I kinda factored in travel time, but I still haven't set definite dates on anything. I would like to do the trip to Phoenix by the Wednesday, get to San Fran and spend wed/thurs night there, in time for the weekend back in San Fran. That might be rushing things a bit though.
I might have a travelling companion now, too.
