I honestly prefer authenticity in language. Makes you feel like you are actually in that specific place watching what is going on.

8? Jesus burnzz, that's amazingly high for a gimmicky 3D monstrosity.

Though looking at my old ratings shows I've never given anything below a 6.5

how can you argue for immersion when you don't have the fucking foggiest idea what they are saying?

that's alienating - not immersive.

We Own the Night, Invincible, the Fighter?

He's a better producer than actor tho..
Max Payne, The Happening, Planet of the Apes? He's had his share. Just as Cage had his share of great movies - Adaptation, LLV, and arguably Kick-Ass. Though obviously the ratio between the two is different as Wahlberg's been lucky enough to get into a Scorsese movie.
Cage has never had his share a "great movies" because of his performance. That is my point.

Luck applies to actors who don't deserve the part. It's not simply by chance that Wahlberg get's in to Scorsese movies. The ratio is what it is for obvious reasons.

They have the subtitles below the screen to know what they are basically saying, works for me.

i didn't see it in 3d.

i'm generous with my ratings because mood has something to do with it - i woke up, put on a pot of coffee, watched the movie, and hadn't suffered a floppy post before i did.

or a warman post, for that matter . . .

I quite enjoyed watching that film but only because it was so unbelievably terrible that it actually had me frequently laughing out loud.

As an actual film it was one of the worst things i'd ever seen, but as something to laugh at it was pretty good.

I quite like subtitles. At least, I prefer them to dubbing. Growing up in the Netherlands though you get used to them really quick, because everything is in English but has Dutch subtitles. On a related note I watched Un Prophete last night after everyone on here raved about it and really enjoyed it. 9/10

Streaming Un Prophete on netflix the only option for me was english subs.. so I had it delivered so i could get it without them.
