I saw a GLI on the way home from work, I came three times... there's also an '05 GLI for sale in my city for $12,000 w/ 37k miles. If I had the money, I totally would buy it in a heartbeat.

why did diesel get so expensive? I remember it used to be cheaper than gas. These new clean diesel cars have awesome gas mileage, but suddenly diesel is more expensive than even premium gas.

Because of 'new' (since 07 in the US) regulations to insure diesel has a low sulphur content, which has added an extra step in the refining process, increasing it's production cost.
