I've got quiet a lot of time off this semester and I wanna buy some games.

I was looking at FEAR2 for the singleplayer experience and maybe BC2 for the multiplayer. I don't want any of this MMO shit, FPS/Age of empires style games/Racing games.

BC2 is still a good game by itself, but preference is dependent on how much removed stuff that was present in BF2 that you'll miss.

So I heard, but I havn´t tried them yet. I was looking at the Wife 0.1 update, but then some erroneous code made my Gf3.5 expansion crash and I wasn´t able to replace it ever since.

You don't want the Wife update. It "upgrades" you to a paid subscription, and you're stuck on the same server. If you opt out, you lose half your inventory.
