So when I plug my iPod in my screen goes black and the only way I can bring my PC back to life is to press the reset button on the case. The PC doesn't turn off, the sound and video just stops. What's that about?

Standard iPod USB lead. iPod Touch 2G.

The only way (I've found so far) that I can connect my iPod is to do it when the PC is off. The iPod works fine, and once it's connected to my PC I can sync it with iTunes with no problems.

I have no idea the difference between the RAM on this page, specifically the G Skill 4G(2x2G) 1600Mhz - they're all different prices, how come?

Different timings/latency, afaik It doesn't really make that much of a difference.

Yeah, same thing.

I've just discovered that if I plug the iPod into the USB lead, and then plug the other end off the USB lead into the computer, nothing breaks. It's only when I plug the lead into the computer first and then plug the iPod in at the other end that the computer says no.

The computer cuts out when the iPod lead gets roughly half way in to the iPod, as if something is being short-circuited (or an earth problem) in some way.

So it's either the iPod or the lead, I'll borrow a lead from a housemate.

Update drivers?

Remove overclocks from GPU?

Reinstall Bad Company 2?

so my next thinking is reformat (havn't done in...long long time) to rule out software, and if that fails buy new bits The cards out of warranty and i need new HDDs, OS and mobo anyway

Sell the entire PC to someone and buy a brand spanking new :3

I try the same thing whenever I run low on power... It's much easier selling a "full" PC than individual parts

well stuff i'd keep would be (newish) PSU, my ram and mouse. So i'd be selling someone a knackered mobo+cpu, a gpu that possibly doesn't work and a case with no sides

My PC is just about to finish a 4hour chkdsk

I guess that's the downside to huge HDDs

then its got to be the lead that came with the ipod. I think the pins are bent but align themselves when the cable is fully plugged into an USB extension but with the PC on the way into the port something gets screwed. I would buy a new cable. They should be inexpensive.

Just rename the BFBC2 folder and run the game, it'll make a new folder and files in it.

You have tried running without the bloom or whatever that lighting setting is called?

I believe you need a 3rd party tool to fully disable it tho'

HBAO you can turn off in game, bloom, is in one of the settings files, HDR I don't know of way of disabling, wish I did, it's horrible in that game.
