For as far as i know it has always been that way. I have rebooted it a couple of times since i have those apps.
I downloaded advanced taskkiller to see if there were any apps running in the background. Can i just kill the gmail and messages app or will taht fuck up the notification or anything?

I was under the impression that task killers are virtually useless now with the way android handles running apps. Google says task killers are not necessary. I don't see why gmail would be a massive slowdown on your phone. The hero should be able to handle all of that . Truly odd.

yeah i know. The HTC Hero was lacking a bit in the hardware department. It was the 1st phone with HTC sense, but the phone wasn;t quite ready for it all. They have released an update for the t-mobile version that should make it all a bit faster (not only games, but also when i do a lot things fast in a row it tends to lagg) but the phone seems to be the big problem here

And I don't have the t-mobile version so that patch is no good for me anyway

The Hero is on older hardware and won't be able to run a lot of the 3D applications out there. If you want to really be able to test its speed, however, do a factory reset. Be sure to back up all of your applications in a list to something like App Brain so that way you can check what apps you want when you have to reinstall all of them after the reset. The new Android Market online (http://market.android.com) might actually be able to do the same thing, but I am not sure if it works with all Android versions. I'm in the USA at the moment and the battery on my Magic is dead (Android 2.2.1) so I can't test it myself. Once I get back I will and will probably also write about it on my blog (http://daviwie.tumblr.com).

I don't have one, but what do you want to do? Check xda developers website, there is so much information there about rooting and how to go about it there on the various wikis and the forum. Take your time and search through there and I would be willing to bet you will find answers to all of your questions there. If not, create an account on the forum and post it.
i just got a big crack the Glass of my droid on the workout machine ! My arm hit the headphone cord and lauched the phone hard face down onto the center of the eliptical lol

insurave is a must for me.. my sis just bought a droid x out of contract because her other phone quit on her. It cost her well over $500. .. and yea, she didn't buy insurance on this one neither. She said she is only a couple months out of an upgrade anyways. .. so I guess she will be buying another phone in a couple of months (thunderbolt?).

btw, she confirmed what I have always said .. once you have 4.3-inch .. umm, you never go back.

Yes sir. Well my home page on the left can be done without rooting. The big clock + date thing is called 'Wp Clock Full' for 99c, there is also a light version. The widget buttons also on the left is called 'Widgetsoid' is on the market place. It is also free.

I also used titanium backup pro to freeze annoying apps such as blockbuster, amazon mp3, etc. It freezes them but not deletes them so they dont use any memory or anything but are still there if need be. Or if you're brave you can delete them.

** If you have a rooted phone you can browse online for apps. Example, "Shazam Pro apk" download this to your memory card either on your phone or your computer. Then use a free app on the market place called "AppInstaller" to browse and select that apk file to install it.
