I've often criticised people praying at times like this, but being in their shoes I seriously fucking appreciate it man. Thanks a lot.
Ive only prayed once and that was for Mollie, I didnt with my Mum as she was an adult, but I'll pray for Jay as he's a kid (imo).

Finny and Camm,

lots of us give you shit sometimes but we're all here for you. I hope your brother can still make it... sometimes things have a funny way of working out when the odds seem so stacked against it.

Well that's what we were looking at on Monday, then by some miracle he was getting better. But it's over this time.

Only reason this is I ask is I've been through some stuff myself, and I don't mean to pry, but I don't know the story here... if you don't want to share I completely understand and you have my best wishes upon yourself and your family and I shall say no more other than I sincerely hope that you can all get through this and find some positives in the negative of the situation you appear to find yourselves in.

I dunno man, just hope you guys are ok.

John's my dad's girlfriend's son, but we're so close he's a brother to me. He has a condition called cystic fibrosis (wiki it), and he got an fluey infection and was admitted to hospital on the 28th december, and has been there since. On monday my dad texted me saying the consultant had said to prepare for the worst, but somehow he started gettting better again. My dad phone me this morning to tell me that it's pretty much game over. He's on a morphine drip, so he's comfortable, and he doesn't know what's happening, all he knows is that he's figthing the infection. Me and Fin aren't going through, because my dad says that it would make him anxious if he knew people were coming to say goodbye, and because I just want to see him it's making it harder. Haven't seen him in 2 weeks...

Prepare for the worst, and the best usually happens. I feel for ya, knowing someone could die and the feeling that you can't do anything is the worst.

What I do is celebrate them in any way possible, thats the only way I can deal with it.

@Rukus I know, it's hard to 'celebrate' him when I'm thinking he can get better. Reading all his posts on bf2s though... comforting in a way.

Man, I don't really know what to say. I guess there's nothing really to say, is there? But it's not quite game over yet. Perhaps you can visit him and make it like a "hey bro, haven't seen you in a couple weeks and just thought we'd drop by to say hello". You know, just make it a casual thing? For his sake if nothing else I guess.

I dunno, these things are always fucking impossible. The way I deal with it is to act like nothing is wrong to the person it is happening to (in my case my dad, brain tumour, cancer) and make whatever time you have a positive experience. But I don't know the situation for you guys. I dunno man, whatever happens it doesn't sound good Just try to somehow appreciate each moment for what it is, make it mean something.

I dunno man, just trying to offer something that could remotely help.

Doing that wouldn't change the mood, people can sense when things aren't right, or when there's a melancholy feel in the room. I would drop him a line and see whats good, you never know.

No disrespect and not trying to be morbid, but if things could be bad it surely doesn't matter that much? Dunno, my dad got really sick and we just tried to make whatever time was left into a good thing.

Time escapes you and if you miss out there are regrets you cannot go back and revisit. Better to see him and try the very hardest to be positive about it than not see him again. But of course, in my opinion only - I could never suggest more than that.

This really strikes a chord for me man, I just want to help, as stupid as that sounds from someone you have never met or spoken with. Just how I feel man.

The thing is guys, John doesn't know that it's probably gonna come to the worst. All he knows is that he's fighting the infection. The nurses/doctors haven't let on, my parents who are with him are putting on a brave face so he doesn't get worried.

Same with my dad until he got really sick. Seriously, just make it like you're dropping in to have a chat like you would at any other time. Like you're saying hi cause you haven't seen him for a couple weeks and just keep the whole exchange like a totally normal thing. Just my suggestion anyway, lots of salt can be taken with it.

If he doesn't know if the worst could happen, then maybe the worst wont happen. Stranger things have happened.

@ camm and finn - I know this may come off wrong, but it might be for the best... it sounds like he was suffering with this thing for a long time. Hoping for a miracle over here, regardless.
