Anyway, I've never rode a street bike. I'd love to try one that though.

for a fatty you're a serious intellectual lightweight.
The only dirtbike you're gonna get that can go even 100 mph is like a yamaha 650 that they use in Baha racing... a 250 will go like 50 mph.-Sh1fty- wrote:

Shifty, you've been through Switzerland and now the US.
Which do you prefer?
imo the Metric system is superior.

I don't like the names "metric" and "imperial"AussieReaper wrote:

I prefer to call them "French" and "English" respectively.
Repost from AoG, but:

Well, I was raised on the metric system. I think it's more useful than the imperial system whenever you're working. When you're telling measurements to your friends I can see how it's easier to use miles and inches, I'm just not used to it though. I still have no clue how long a yard or a mile is.AussieReaper wrote:

With the metric system it's really straight-forward and easy. Like 10mm = 1cm = 0.1dm = 0.01m = 0.001 dam = 0.0001hm = 0.00001km, etc.

This should help.-Sh1fty- wrote:

Your thoughts, insights, and musings on this matter intrigue me
A yard is around a metre. A mile is around a Km.-Sh1fty- wrote:

Now "football field" is the most fucking retarded measurement ever.
My state was founded by Batman. Your opinion is invalid.

About 1.6 kilometers in a mile.

Seriously I'm not going to do arithmetic in my brain when watching TV. If they say 60 miles, I hear 60 Km.

If I hear 60miles I think 100km... close enough
Mostly, a certain American lackluster for learning keep us buried in the infinitely irritating 'imperial' system of measures. We keep building shit based on those measurements. Our sports use those measurements. We're taught those above metric in schools. The expensive and confusing catastrophe of change is what's holding us back from metric, and I'm reminded of it every time I have to mentally calculate base twelve and fractional shapes rather than base ten and decimal...because that's just the numbers the project's using.-Sh1fty- wrote:
