I've never really understood people's aversion to editing inventory and using worldedit to build superstructures in Minecraft. I don't cheat when I'm just playing the game for adventure mode, but every minute I save doing something fancy is a minute I could be building something else, or playing another game.

Meh I used INV edit to get a quicker start in my latest world... a set of diamond tools will help every project on it's feet...

I'm also considering world edit... constructing underground farms is a bitch when lava is everywhere...

@ The topic about Notch. He's one of the most filthy programmers I've ever seen in a commercial light. I won't lie. He was lucky to have an idea that stuck. Yes, lucky, not clever, lucky. Minecraft as a whole from the ground up has been programmed so poorly, that you'd have to start over to make it work 100% correctly.

It's also bewildering to even grasp how many writes this game does every save. It's... eh, it's so baad.

If the power to the world ceases (in both SP and MP). The "hooks" in the world are left open, and undefined. That means when you rejoin, exceptions are vomited and the world is partially re-generated.

What also pisses me off about Notch is his ongoing lack of fixing his stupidity, and simply adding more shit to the game. The whole "It's still in Alpha/Beta" is absolutely bull fuck, and the lack of any real improvements or changes when they went to Beta is evidence enough.

In saying that, I have enjoyed modding minecraft, hosting server, programming plugins for bukkit etc, and I do enjoy creating mega structures, but all that has been possible because professional programmers have been bothered to "re-code the server software from the ground up" and release it as open source.

At the moment, bukkit can't officially release (bukkit is an open source server mod for Minecraft) because it has "Alternative Minecraft Server Source). -- They're having an online conference with Notch and his Mojang crew this week.

Overall, I still think it was worth 10 bucks. It is a good idea after all, and I've enjoyed the time played.. There is ALOT of room for improvement, but that applies for 90% of games.

Minecraft is in the top 1% of those 90% of games you mentioned that have a LOT of room for improvement. I love seeing new crap implemented, but it's worthless if the code is rubbish. I'm pretty much halting any complicated redstone circuitry on Nembus because the client end of multiplayer is so messed up. I can't even get four chained T flip-flops to trigger each other properly or Super Mario Bros underground to play without lag delay hitching.

But still, it's fun to build things for the looks of it.

The creator of WorldGuard/WorldEdit has built his own permission system built in, and thus we can open the doors of nembus to the public eye without the thought of griefing!

/nick: Changes the user's display name. Display name will be prefixed with a tilde (~) so that other players know that it is a fake name.
/whois: Determines the username behind a display name.
/spawn: Teleports the user to the spawn location.
/top: Teleports you to the highest block at your current position.

/tree: Spawns a tree at your current location. (Be ready to move, or you will die!)
/bigtree: Spawns a big tree at your current location. (Be ready to move, or you will die!)
