It also depends on who you are talking to. I've dropped some comedy gold during political discussions but some people are just uptight when it comes to certain things.. cant even crack a smile [whysoserious]

Why bother voting then? The right has its own weapons -- mostly in the form of patriotism. If the sum of both sides arguing is just a matter of arbitrary bullshit, then the system is a farce and not worth participating in.JohnG@lt wrote:

Granted, we do live in a system where technically state governments can remove your "right" to vote for any reason not covered by the Constitution.
Which? I think most of them have their own little in-fightings. Just not as highly publicized.Turquoise wrote:

Well, I'm sure there's partisanship in Canada, but aside from some of the Quebecois separatists, the vitriol between the left and right up there seems pretty tame. I've been reading the CBC for a while now, and politics seem nowhere near as tabloidish up there.Kmar wrote:

It can be about working together for a common goal. If you take pride into something you create (a society) then you are more likely to put effort into it. I think you are a pessimist by nature turq, so naturally you only see the worst.Turquoise wrote:

You have this strange belief that all criminals should be beheaded as soon as they are found guilty, no matter how petty the offense. I'm surprised you loathe Muslims to such a large degree.lowing wrote:

I still believe that we're reaching a point where it's more about coming together as a species. The world is too small and interdependent to focus so much on national identities. I think it's by more than just a coincidence that the most primitive nations are the most divided by tribalism.
Yet, we have this strange throwback to something similar to tribalism with our own focus on decentralization of authority.
What the hell are you talking about? When have I EVER said anything about not needing to defend yourself? You're a confused old man.lowing wrote:
