its a tactic some people use to force people out
say for example you can build x product for 10% profit on mineral cost. player 2 can build it for 5% profit - if player 1 moves to 5% over mineral, player 2 either sells at break even (or a loss), or moves elsewhere. lots of stuff selling at 5% is more turnover than 10% but barely shifting after all
on the flip side some people are just fucking retarded when it comes to isk and will be selling battleships waaaaay below what it's costing them to make so yeh
