Now that theres been some discussion of this, I'll offer up my opinion, which is in some ways a re-iteration of what I've said in previous threads.
He makes some good points and has some good ideas. In my opinion appealing to the common ground of Islam and Christianity (eg. Jesus Christ, Moses) is the best way to deal with clashes between the Islamic world and the West. He makes very good points about how resources could be better allocated. Unfortunately, he also tells a few porkers, like the holocaust denial...as with previous nuclear weapon discussion, it really boils down to who you trust more.
Re: Americans, I must admit my opinions have changed somewhat in the past few months. Returning to university has played a big part in this.
If I judged Americans by the actions of their leaders, they'd all be oil thieving psychopaths. I know thats not the case.
If I judged Americans by what I see on TV, they'd be cheesey people whose living rooms are arranged to face the camera, and would all go on about Martha Stewart and make jokes about Liza Minelli's drinking habits? I know thats not the case.
No, the only way to build up a fair opinion of Americans is to meet some and talk to them, but make sure you meet a lot as they're quite a diverse bunch. Diverse, and actually quite pleasant to talk to, much like all the Muslims I've met.
If I had to pick a state in the USA that I'd most like to visit, it'd be Oregon.
