Its kinda Sad but I felt some Relief to hear They are that afraid of Bush.

Its also really sad that it is infact a major step up for America's image.

As for the Letter, He make some good points, But nothing will be done about israel.

Talk is cheap. In God We Trust, Everyone else we must monitor Closely.

Ahmadinejad makes alot of good points. I think it is sad that some of the readers immediately dismiss his message because of who he is. I think that Iran has taken the 1st step toward peace and is the US should follow. If the US gats into a war with iran it will be 10 times worse than iraq, and no one wants that.

I am American and i dislike when people like Sh1fty assume americans are stupid warmogers based on the comments of a few.
Iran took the first steps toward peace under their previous, moderate, president, then crushed them and the movement for moderation.  Putting Ahmadinejad in office (and make no mistake, he was PUT, not elected) was meant to seal up that djinni, but good.

Hell the next thing we all know Iran will ally up with North Korea and then we'll have a real clusterfuck on our hands...I mean two countires with nuclear capability? North Korea's got a million man army...shit...it's the end of the world if we gotta get into it with them...they've been brainwashed since they were born that America wants to destroy everything they hold dear...and I think it's probably the same way in Iran...I know it's like that with the Palestineans...but anyway...that's it from me...

Will be interesting what Bush has to say.
If by suggesting that we drop our democracy you think he is making a good point I would suggest that you be sent back to school for remedial education.

Don't worry, he'll ignore every single point of the letter, and merely mention that the issue of nuclear proliferation is not addressed.  The media will follow in suit and no one will be the wiser.

As per yerded's comment... I'm with Agamemnar.  I don't know what letter you read.

No, China will tear Korea apart if it does anything like that.  While China likes to flick the West off once in a while (e.g. sending North Korean refugees straight back to Korea to be tortured),  they won't allow Korea to do anything that will start a nuclear war.

Today 11:27:40      -1      Ahmadinejad's letter to Bush      another american
Wow. I feel terrible. The guilt is far too great for me to shoulder. I'm guessing, though I could be wrong, that the dear man who gave me that is JahManRed, as I did not quote him in a flattering fashion.

Let me recall that Ahmadinejad called the holocaust a myth and wants Israel destroyed in a single storm. Missiles bearing the slogans "We will stamp on America" and "We will wipe Israel from the face of the earth" preclude a nice, 'sensible' letter over tea, don't you think? Even if it was just for show, that's not exactly a peacable overture.

Now that theres been some discussion of this, I'll offer up my opinion, which is in some ways a re-iteration of what I've said in previous threads.

He makes some good points and has some good ideas.  In my opinion appealing to the common ground of Islam and Christianity (eg. Jesus Christ, Moses) is the best way to deal with clashes between the Islamic world and the West.  He makes very good points about how resources could be better allocated.  Unfortunately, he also tells a few porkers, like the holocaust denial...as with previous nuclear weapon discussion, it really boils down to who you trust more.

Re: Americans, I must admit my opinions have changed somewhat in the past few months.  Returning to university has played a big part in this.

If I judged Americans by the actions of their leaders, they'd all be oil thieving psychopaths.  I know thats not the case.
If I judged Americans by what I see on TV, they'd be cheesey people whose living rooms are arranged to face the camera, and would all go on about Martha Stewart and make jokes about Liza Minelli's drinking habits?  I know thats not the case.
No, the only way to build up a fair opinion of Americans is to meet some and talk to them, but make sure you meet a lot as they're quite a diverse bunch.  Diverse, and actually quite pleasant to talk to, much like all the Muslims I've met.

If I had to pick a state in the USA that I'd most like to visit, it'd be Oregon.

-Iran's president on Thursday called Israel's government a "regime based on evil," but also said he was ready to negotiate with the United States and other countries over his country's nuclear program. -

This guy doesn't know when to shut his hole.

A: I hate the jews but.... let's talk about my nuclear program.

B: Terra, freedom, osama bin laden. All related ahmeda... ahemda... well, you funny arab guy. You get my drift.

Is this supposed to be an insult? Are we reading the same letter? He says nothing of the sort... I suggest you take some remedial English.
Yerded, he said nothing of the sort. He only stated that Western Democracy is failing... To be quite honest, I feel that way sometimes too. He only asked for peace and a little more faith.

Oddly enough, Israel has nuclear bombs without the U.N.'s permission... Nobody invaded them to get rid of their WMDs...
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.

I don't appreciate the final idea that the world is moving closer and closer to accepting a god in order for peace to prevail, but Ahmadinejad had a lot of really well thought-out and proper points in his letter.  He addressed all of the right things...things that we as Americans really need to get into everyday discussion a lot more, rather than worrying about who's going to get voted off of american idol every night.  Things that we need to write to our Congressmen and representatives about in order to start generating a push for answers and flexing the will of the People.

WOW Dont know what to say other than that I thought the letter was well put together and a sign of Iran's attempt to at least start better communications with the US. Thankfully none of you guys are world leaders =P
Seriously though today 5-11-06 The leader of Iran is trying to set up talks with the US and is being shot down, that right there is a major step forward for his country, seeing as how we havent had formal talks in almost 20 years. Im proud to be an American but have the heart to attempt to empathize with everyone else on this planet, and hopefully the rest of us will learn to do the same.

oh and the democracy thing guys ...THIS COUNTRY WAS A REPRESENTATIVE REPUBLIC WHEN STARTED....its gone downhill ever since this democracy fiasco that everyone holds so dear was instituted...

I really hope we dont start trouble with Iran I have lots of friends with family there. I also dont think Muslims, Arabs, Persians, etc. dont all hate America or else so many of them wouldnt move here to pursue their dreams....

This country IS STILL A REPRESENTATIVE REPUBLIC, by the way.  I don't remember the last time I sat down with congressmen and the senate to discuss the laws of our country.

Don't forget a stop by Astoria. You could go up to Washington to Long Beach for the kite or sand castle festival, or go gape at St. Helens, or go further north to see the mossy Olympic forest. The northwest over here owns.
