Some people have a hard time imagining being at the scene of a mass shooting with a bunch of bodies lying around.  The sheep just pictures a guy laying on the ground with a couple people on him, not the fact that people are bleeding out everywhere and the screaming and the shooting and the crying.

Yeah sheep, you would grab the gun and take the safety off if you see people getting murdered, 22 of them I think. And yes, you would imediately think about returning fire on the person killing everyone around you.

or Oh look, there is an 8 year old blowing blood bubbles gasping for breath in convulsions. I think I'll wet myself now and black out.

meh.
Kinda what I was thinking.  How about put presidentsheep there with someone he does care -in harms way....  Tiny sidebar: I've never quite felt rage like I did the first time my Son got a vaccine (shot) and cried.  Yea I knew it was for the best, but my Son, my blood in pain?!  I felt sheer rage boil from withing and for a fleeting moment seriously wanted to fuck that doctor up.  It was weird.  I can only imagine what it would be like if... .

This is just perfect logic. Solve the problem of shooting... With more shooting!
edit: the need to protect those you care about is a fairly basic human instinct, however it's still one that I think can be achieved without giving everyone the potential to commit murder.

The politicization of this country over the past 11 years is fucking ridiculous. Maybe I was too young at the time and never noticed it was always like this, but I blame it on the rise of the 24 hour news channels and the zombies they have spawned. They make it seem like everyone is at each others throats but in reality it's like 15% Dem and 15% Rep yelling at each other while the other 70% of us wave middle fingers at both of them
Pretty much...  One of the bigger problems with our system is that, at most, only 60% of the electorate votes, so appealing to wingnuts will get you a lot of power.
I don't vote because my vote is drowned out by the rejects of society and I don't want to have to dodge jury duty and shit.

The US should have simple voting requirements.  1. highschool diploma or GED.  2. Current or Previous Military Service.  3. A fulltime Job that is not funded by taxes.

This would fix all problems with the US government is record time.
No it would make them worse. Disenfranchising a large portion of society is an excellent way for a government to lose legitimacy and for politics to become more extreme.

Going by your system every person who was fortunate enough to not have to join the military and instead were able to go to college after HS would be penalized for either being smart enough to get great grades or penalized for not being poor.

Also everyone who doesn't work 40 hours a week but still manages to produce high incomes (some investors, designers, entertainers, executives etc.) would lose their ability to vote despite being important parts of their communities and the fields.

Screw the "only former military gets to vote" shit. The vast majority of people who join do it only to get out of their socioeconomic class. Fuck the stupid ass reverence to the military.

Personally I think that only brown-eyed people between the ages of 22 and 44 who have lived in New Jersey at one point in their lives should be allowed to vote.

And before you ask, it actually is only by coincidence that Macbeth falls into that category.

That or the site is having problems, I had a bunch of stuff that wouldn't post, I seem to remember Dilbert X trying to make a post a few weeks back that wouldn't come up. Anytime you see the same post 3 or four times in a row linkend to an error that is whats happening. Most of the features dont work anymore for me pics. etc ~ I can't even log out.

I feel bad for the guy and his daughter and all but it really really really seems Fox News is kinda exploiting the guy here in order to defend their conservative viewpoints. FFS he's breaking down on the phone a few days after someone killed his daughter get him off the air and let him grieve.

Option D: learn the difference between the alphabet and numbers then move to a country where I don't risk getting shot.

Just out of curiosity, how many of you have actually been in the situation where you've shot someone? Or are you just basing your reaction on hours clocked up on video games and penis waggling internet bravado?

My point is. To integrate guns further into society is dangerous. Raising a kid teaching him how to use a handgun which was designed for killing people makes me feel ill at the thought. I raise my son to believe that violence is wrong, killing is wrong. Handing him a gun and teaching him how to use it on a person no matter how vile that person is, is alien to me and most Europeans.
Yes target practice is fun for kids. But at some point you are going to have to start teaching them how to take someone down. Most adults aren't ready for this. A kid...........well that boggles my mind. You teach your kids to love. Then introducing an instrument of death to such a fragile mind cant be good.
Our police does a good job of protecting me and my family. Its how socialites have functioned for 100s of years. Its not a "major fail" to put your faith in your police force. If your police force is under performing then maybe you have a point. Yes sometimes they fail. But arming the population in the hope of killing the few baddys who slip thro the net is not worth it in the long run imo.
You teach your kid that violence is wrong, killing is wrong and that is fine. WHen will teach your kid that not everyone is raised as responsible and loving as he and there may come a time in his life that someone will try and take advantage of him. How can you teach a person to defend themselves without inducing violence into that teaching? You don't teach how to "take someone down", you teach how to defend yourself.

My kids and I go shooting. In fact my kids own some pretty cool guns. We have fun at the range. My kids are stable and responsible. I teach them that it is ok to stand up for themselves, but they better not start shit.

Do you have a cop follow you around for every interaction you have with another person? If not, then cops can not protect you when you need protecting, at that moment that interaction with another person goes wrong.

Guns are not violent, PEOPLE are violent. Which is one reason I own guns.

All i'm trying to say is I would rather live in a society where no-one is threatened by guns instead of everyone, adding them into a situation just escalates it, if you feel you need to carry a gun to protect yourself then there's something wrong with where you're living.

It all had a profound effect on me. Pulling the trigger was the easy part. Its what happens after that has a lasting effect. You can train people to pull the trigger, but what happens after................
I do not hunt.

If you are unfortunate enough to have to defend yourself with deadly force, you can take comfort in the fact that you are alive to feel bad about it.

Why in a modern society should you have to feel the need to defend yourself with deadly force on a regular basis?

I'm more likely to be struck by lightning then murdered, and I don't wear a Faraday suit every time I go out in stormy weather.
