I've said it before, most detergents are biological now. Biological = enzymes which die when in a bit more then body temp. (37C) so if you wash in hot, you make the detergent pretty much useless.

You sure? I don't think I've heard anything about my detergent being full of enzymes.

EDIT: I'll be damned. "Ingredients include biodegradable surfacants and enzymes"

Even so, I imagine the manufacturer takes that into account that people still wash hot quite a lot.

Huh? I've had this computer since 2007, I think you're confusing me with someone else. Either way, whilst I'm aware new sheets would not be very expensive, I need something to sleep on tonight, and I'm not going to throw something perfectly good away without trying to sort it out first.

Well, I put them through the wash on 30C and it seems to have mostly come out, so I've stuck them through on another run in the hope that it'll get the remaining bits out. It's not very noticeable on the duvet cover any more, so I'll bleach the sheets if they still won't come clean.
