He lives in Wisconsin, has probably never met a Mexican, but undoubtedly hates them too. If there's one thing the god fearing Midwest does best, it's hate things that it has no contact with.

You have no fucking clue about the midwest nor do you know who lives there. I do not represent my region nor ever will, I also do not represent my city or state. I do not hate Mexicans or Mexico just want our border secure. I have meet plenty of Mexicans who are all over the place.

Right, because global dynamics and China's position on the world stage haven't changed at all since 1950?

I guess in your mind Germany still wants to spread the power of the Reich and gain more lebensraum.
Oh I'm sorry, I still look at China as an enemy.
welcome to the 1950s
Do not be a blasted fool to think China is a friend, in the present. The government is still the same.

what exactly do you mean by china and their government "being the same"? being the same as what? when? 1994 when you were born? still a maoist and ruthless communist regime with progressive socialist tendencies? or still a blossoming state capitalist power that is rapidly industrialising and developing? or perhaps still just a bunch of slit-eyed yellow-bellies that can't be trusted? or perhaps still a bunch of dynastic paddy-farmers with a penchant for opium?

you don't know what you're talking about. your view of china seems to be taken from a mccarthy pamphlet. it's sad.

I wonder if War Man even knows why he thinks China is an "enemy". Just like he doesn't know why Obama and Democrats are bad.

I believe he's explained it himself that he gets all of his views from his parents who homeschool him, so..

China has evolved past the days of Maoism and has effectively embraced many aspects of capitalism, although political freedoms are still very limited there.

Their government is essentially a technocracy at this point, with business leaders influencing most policy decisions.

While War Man's perspective is certainly off-kilter, I wouldn't exactly trust China either.  The reasons for this are much more nuanced than he seems to realize though.  China and the U.S. are somewhat dependent on each other at this point, but we each have very different goals and needs.

The U.S. is ailing from debt issues, and so China is buying up our debt, while China's rapid economic growth is largely dependent on our consumption.  For the next several decades, we're going to be inevitably tied to each other economically.  We'll push for them to allow their currency to naturally inflate in value, while China will push for us to resolve our debt issues.  The sticking point when it comes to not trusting China, however, is that they have their own interventionist agendas in areas of the world with high amounts of natural resources.

Much like the U.S., they've spent a lot of money buying up resources and intervening in certain key conflicts.  Most of their approach is economic rather than militarist, but they have taken action in Sudan while we're stuck with Iraq and Afghanistan.

When it comes to North Korea though, it seems like they'd probably be ok with distancing themselves from them, since Kim Jong Il is basically starting to piss off everyone.  It's not in China's best interests to side with them anymore.
