These are games you play huge battles with your friends on, not on your own.
played a few skirmish rounds so far;
likes:
graphics a++ - seeing a cannon shot miss a building, to roll off and knock a villagers head off wont get old i dont think
controls - simple, same as AOE past
physics - nothing game changing but nice little touches like ships losing rigging, buildings losing tiles and so on
dislikes:
path-finding is too god-mode
population limit is still annoying, it forces you to micro which is good, but in the later game it can really hinder you trying to build support for cannon etc
tactics - gone are ye olde boxmode and such, results in general chaos if you lose control of your micro
definitly worth the 10p

Your thoughts, insights, and musings on this matter intrigue me
unless im missing something you cant garrison them in towers anymore can garrison civilians still, and they still give an offensive bonus.
also if you're playing any water maps (carib etc) invest heavily in towers on your coast if you're turtling - they RAPE ships

oh thats another irk with the low pop limit, i cant really afford to have 'expendable' (ie bait) units. so the only real way to get landing ships past a good tower/frigate blockade is buy some super fucking expensive mortar ships and then frigates to protect them.

Not really good enough for me. The price would have to be $0 to justify even getting a digital copy from GFWL to set aside with my disc.FloppY_ wrote:

I didn't say that; I said I ain't buying anything from GFWL. I don't even like the interface.FloppY_ wrote:

Besides, I already have AoE3.
You don't even have to use it for anything but clicking purchase
Teds the way you speak makes me think you were good at AoE

problem with smack is it's very moreish.
not sure what you mean, but you have to turn on advanced formations in optionsFatherTed wrote:

yeah found that bit, i mean forming square around my arty, or having rolling lines of pike w/musketeers in the background etc. ie if i selected trebuchets+swordsman in AOEII and told them to square they'd ring around the trebuchet and defend itjsnipy wrote:
