i'd say any combination of 'dubstep' and 'student union' = night-in watching desperate housewives and having a wank
being in a crowd of students that think they're into cutting-edge electronic music makes me want to puke
get off my dick for once? you're hilarious
i was spinning dubstep tunes at house parties back when most people would look disgusted and say 'wtf is this'
nowadays whenever i spin at parties i get asked to put on "some of that dubstep".
everyone's a fan all-of-a-sudden, innit
so i'll just carry on, playing aquacrunk

Skrillex. Should have mentioned that.
I love Noisia's mix.
I love Noisia's mix.
ewwww
laughable
also redheadd there's a very very big difference between spinning and listening to new things because you like them and want to share and "TRYING SO HARD TO BE THE FIRST OMG". in the right circles and right places it's not hard to get a clear indication of all the new stuff that is being released, and just trying to involve them in your weekly spins is what any good DJ should do-- fresh material. all the people nowadays that are sat around on internet forums and in crappy clubs going OH MY GODDDDD I LOVE DUBSTEP! were saying OH MY GOD WHAT IS THIS SHIT! a year ago... has the sound of the music changed? no. the social attitude towards it has changed. i've loved the sound since it's early days. not really seeing where you're getting confused.

No, I have been promoting and running a dance music festival for 13 years now. Know loadsa DnB Djs, play Drum & Bass drums in a band. Part of a collective who own a 20k rig. I have seen plenty DnB in the 20 years I have been clubing/promoting.Uzique wrote:
lol quite safely say after the total of one london dnb/dub night you've been to?JakAttaK wrote:
Because i've totall proved I'm a wanker by letting people know a liquid dnb album is out. The wankers are the chavs who only listen to pure jump up and disregard anything else, or the 15 year old kids who think dnb Is a totally new genre and chase and status' new tune is the be all and end all. I can probably quite safely say all the trouble zeek has had from people outside have been there for a jump up night of some sort.JahManRed wrote:
this is why I listen to DnB, play DnB drums but never actually go to a DnB club.
The people who go to DnB nights are generally wankers, as confirmed by this thread.
everyone's an expert on this fucking genre, aren't they
btw, that staement was a jest. If I thought people who like DnB where wankers, then I and half my friends would be.
btw, I love the liquid DnB. Check out DJ Calibre, mate of mine.
i wasn't addressing you in my post, jahman
not really sure how you quoted it that way

Yeh the whole quoting there confused me. Regardless, DJ Calibre rings a bell.
One of my all time favorites, from one of my favorite DnB producers.
re: Pendulum. I think it'd be a good idea to include them. This is an appreciation thread, and it's easier to appreciate good stuff when you compare it to shit stuff
re: Logistics. I remember many years ago listening to Release the Pressure. I liked it. And then I listened to the rest of that album and was disappointed because it all sounded the same to me. But now that I'm reminded, I might check out his newer stuff. Might.
These days, the dnb I like is "liquid". Really really like Consequence's "Live for Never".

His album Crash, Bang, Wallop is pretty good imo. Got a bit of everything on it, excluding the token dubstep track as the album came out a year or so before people started doing that. But it's got bits of electro, and some more down tempo stuff on it too. Looking at the tracklist now, there's not really one song I don't like. The exception WAS Murderation, but it's grown on me, and now I think it's a quality track.
that sequenced intro is tres minimal techno

Break is an absolute genius. The stuff like that really frustrates me cause it sounds so simple to make, but everytime I've tried I just cannot do it. Nice post though Zeek, hadn't heard that before.
What do you think of this guy? Still at around 170 bpm, and I think his tunes are really fresh. One of the old studio assistants when I went to college was best mates with him too. Really jealous
EDIT - Whilst on the subject of Med School releases, ever since I've heard this tune, the vocal sample has put the hairs up on the back of my neck. Such an upbeat tune:

No way, I much prefer the one I linked.
Anyhow, it feels more chillout than Moving With You. Which is what I was aiming for.

True its more chilled but something about Moving With You makes me really happy
This is his most chilled out though in terms of arrangement, purely cause it's the only one I know of that he's done half time. EDIT: Failed and put the non half time version up
