Im supised no one is talking about these in here yet not the top of the line but the hd6870 comes close to the 470gtx and destroys the 460gtx 1gig even more so at higher reses

the 6870 is actually smaller, PCB-wise, than my 8800GTX. very nice and compact build.

not sure about benchmarks or performance yet, fps/temps/power wise, because i can't get it powered on.

anticipating a pretty decent card, though

Same fan and cooler design as HD 6870 so it crushes hopes for more quieter and better reference cooler (like usually with ATi, same fan always).

I would say this month, GTX 580 will go live next week so AMD must respond

the new ATI 6-series anti-aliasing is very... interesting... in-game.

definitely noticeably different from the AA i'd get from my 8800GTX (hours of staring at it in tf2 as my... non technical reference )

not sure whether it's better or worse. i'd liken it to the blurriness of PS3.

On topic:

In all honesty I can't see the games industry wanting to ramp up PC gfx too far ahead of the consoles. They don't want to limit their market too narrowly.

There are some problems with the new AA method, it seems to blurr things you don't want to (text for example).
