The hard right has been in power since day one, nothing to do with Gaza, in fact the most moderate party won the majority of votes since then.
As discussed before, the parties which came second and fifth (IIRC) are currently running the country, not the moderates the people wanted.

Whose fault is that? The moderates for not building a coalition, no?

This is not on topic.

And there is nothing in Israeli citizenship law that requires the person applying for citizenship to be Jewish.

I don't understand your ridiculous hatred for Israel at all. I don't see them as harmless little angels by any means but I'd rather live there than in any of the Arab nations. By comparison, they're a shining beacon of tolerance and secularism. They even have Arabic as the second official language even though it is spoken by a minority.

Nah I'd happily live in Qatar or UAE. If you're not Muslim it's a Westerner's dream (if you don't mind the heat, which I don't).

Simple really, they're modern day nazis with south african racism and apartheid thrown in, a huge proportion of the violence and problems in the world are directly traceable to the consequences of their biblical fruitballery.

Hammering muslims is addressing the symptom, not the causes - of which Israel is a big one.

Zionists are a small minority and you're turning them into representatives of the majority. You said it yourself, the moderates are the majority.

That's like saying fundamentalist Christians make up the majority in America because Bush was president for eight years. They don't, not even close.

So how about the Muslims living within the borders of Israel accept Israeli citizenship and work from within to help moderate the Israeli government. They have that option and opportunity. There's nothing preventing them from doing so except stubborn pride and the status that being 'the victim' gives them.

If people want to go tete a tete with Dilbert over Israel, then start another thread.

Yeah, what happened to topics evolving? Nothing ever stays on topic past the second page.
Because Israel-related topics turn into triple-digit page long train wrecks.

That's why.

This thread was going in a decent direction with regard to Western perceptions of Muslims in general and the media's role in that.

Then Dilbert jumps in with a random, totally unrelated "Israel is the fucking devil" comment to derail into his own world view.

Fuck that. If he wants to start ranting about teh Joos, he can do that in his own fucking thread. One more off topic post, and shit starts getting deleted.

Muslims are certainly fair game in the discussion, and have been.

That would be considered...the term is "on topic".

No, the comment was about Israel being significantly more religiously bigoted than Saudi Arabia, since Saudi Arabia was being held up as the epitome of religious bigotry.

You just always jump in to defend Israel no matter what, and tell us to keep on topic while trying to get the last word in yourself.

I don't really know what more needed to be said. I think we all agreed that if we were to see a bearded Muslim board the same plane as us we would get nervous and that the PC types are morons.

Israel is hardly secular, and as already pointed out, if the oath of allegiance is changed to define the nation according to a single religion it certainly won't be.

And if you want to start an Israel thread, feel free. That is not what this thread is about.

I don't "defend Israel no matter what" and you know that. You just can't bring yourself to admit that there are people who take a balanced approach to a problem you can't take a balanced approach to.

As to the "last word" comment: I'm doing my fucking job as a moderator. You are straying into territory that everyone who has been on these forums knows will devolve into something that will NEVER come back to the original subject matter. So I'm trying to nip it in the bud. Yes, I commented on something that you said that was blatantly wrong regarding Israeli citizenship (probably shouldn't have--feeding the troll). But the bottomline is that you went off topic. You continue to go off topic. I've told you repeatedly to stop. If you don't, you'll get a three day break.

Feel free to discuss Israel to your heart's content. Just do it in a thread that is related to Israel. This is not that thread.

Now explain how socialised medicine is on topic.

Socialized medicine is a proposed solution to an issue. That issue being health care reform. I would argue that the left in this country is remarkably intolerant of alternative views regarding that issue, even though both sides agree reform is required.
