No. Your clear implication was that the enemy WAS/IS Islam.
What?

My implication was that the entire western media has been propagading anti-muslim sentiments ever since 9/11 thus creating a distorted view of the people and the faith itself. Ergo it seemed - in a sense logical - for the man in question to feel threatened by the burka when boarding a plane, and that's why it seemed wrong to get fired simply because he expressed that feeling. A feeling for which I consider the media and the government responsible.
That is UTTER BULLSHIT. Any time someone makes a generalized statement regarding Islam, the "entire western media" is all over that person like stink on shit.
True. Thus the man lost his job. Ironic that they're the ones responsible for the negative sentiments to begin with eh?

I'd say the actions of Islamic fundamentalists are responsible for the negative sentiments...

I'd say 60% of it is the fault of terrorism, but 20% is sensationalism by media, and the remaining 20% is a combination of the gullibility and ignorance of the public.

Sure, but you're old enough to remember the media turn since '88... and you know what? The Islamic fundamentalists you speak of haven't changed a bit since then. I bet you know what did change though.

Yeah...the media didn't used to play apologist for them.

I was referring to the time when the Russians were the enemy and the Mujahedeen were the noble freedom fighters of Afghanistan - as depicted by the media at the time... but you already knew that.

Hell, I play 'spot the air marshall' while waiting to board, or the slightly more bland game of 'what's their story' by just observing everyone getting on the plane.

Hint: pretty or ugly, doesn't matter.  Most people are boring as can be.

Please make me aware of the " racist propaganda " that was not the work of the plo, al qaeude, hamas [SP] ( etc.. ) and put forth themselves.
Oooh ok so you're not aware of any demonizing of the Muslims by the western media in the last nine years. Alright then. It must be the PLO's fault. Lil
What, you waiting for another airplane before you make up your mind then?  I am glad you said western media.  Cause I'm pretty sure Bush went out of his way to say Islam isn't the enemy.
It isn't very hard to demonize some one who wants to kill anyone who doesn't share his particular outlook on religion. ask uziqe.

Ya the last nine years have been quite in the way of terror attacks, Guess he blew the sh*t out of the right places. Just try and be marginally aware of the facts and demographics, that is enough for me. Personally, I don't eyeball old ladies from Sweden and wonder if they are gonna smuggle a bomb on the plane, tho the last I heard They were down to using retards, I guess they're master plan is working.

Not all Muslims are terrorists.

However, the overwhelming majority of current terrorists that'd be a threat to me are Muslims.
Male, aged 17-32, Sunni Muslims.

Yeah, I'm going to give a little more attention to people that match that description.
Don't like it?  Fuck you. Go complain to those Jihadi Muslims that're giving the Islamic religion a bad name.

I'll be a little more PC, just as soon as I see outrage from the Islamic world over their religion being hijacked by terrorists and murderers.
This quietly snickering into their sleeves, and a muttered "They deserved it" whenever a western target is hit - not acceptable.

I'm pretty sure Danish people would have their own irrational preconceptions of a certain religious group if they lost two major buildings and a lot of people from a terror attack by them.

No one is saying that Williams's remarks show a mastery of logic over emotion, but to lose your job over a harmless statement is pretty over the top -- especially when most Americans would agree with that statement.
