Microphone Problem Win7 in WLM/MSN

Got a weird one, hopefully one of you can shed some light on this...

I'm using a headset mic plugged into my sound card.

It works fine on Skype and Teamspeak but on MSN / Windows Live Messenger it always keeps resetting the system mic volume down really low (usually 14). Even when I put it back up to 100 it keeps going back down.

I've already tried turning this off.

Would really appreciate any help.

Have you tried going through the "Set Up Audio and Video" on MSN?

Yeah, and I've obvs selected the correct microphone, and set it at max volume...

Go to control panel > sound > communications tab > make sure it is set to "Do Nothing"
