Is my video card a paper weight now?

started artifacting on desktop, device manager came up saying hardware was being installed (dont know why, ive been running all my hardware for a few weeks in windows 7 and before that for nearly four years with vista), pc shuts down

i start it back up and on boot it has this weird pattern of a stacked "+-" next to a "v", also a "h" made up of "/"s followed by "1/4"

so it looks like +-v h 1/4 repeating, which fills up the right half of the screen, it runs through the startup before the os flashes, when the os comes up the -+v h 1/4 goes away and i get about four vertical columns of broken blue lines filling the screen, the os starts its load then black screen and nothing

i can boot into safe mode, but the blue lines still show up, uninstalled the latest drivers and reinstalled and still the same deal

dont have another card to test out, will try reseating and cleaning tomorrow, so in the mean time what do you guys think, card dead? bake it? suggestions? goodnight

Should still meet most mfg warranties if you didn't overclock beyond allowed specs.

IF its dead and not under warranty what do you have to lose by putting it in the oven?

That's kind of unusual for a relatively recent card, unless you forgot to register it (or overclocked the crap out of it). I was able to RMA my BFG Tech 6800U/OC for years.

unfortunately i missed the registration period so im out of luck there

been doing so many things today, just started baking, will have results in an hour or so

wow crazy i baked it for about 9 minutes at 392F and it works perfectly now, unbelievable

i still need to get some paste for the gpu though, so i wont be running it full on until i get some
