So I downloaded series 1-7 from Rapidshare

.mkv ftw, 20 min program only 40 mB.

Audacity is nice but is there a way I can mass - convert files? I need to for HLDJ, to set all my files to 11025hz, mono and 16 bit and sometimes mp3-->wav

The software in this thread might be free as in beer, but it is not free as in freedom.

The thread should be re-named "royalty-free software V2.0".

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

hey, is there a good video game capture program out there that is extremely light on system resources and (hopefully) free? I tried "playclaw" after not being able to record and play modern games with fraps, but playclaw is a joke. It was light on system resources while "recording" but only recorded 1 second of footage during the free trial.

Any screen capturing software is gonna be extremely heavy on resources. What it's doing is taking 30 (or however many FPS you set it to) screenshots a second, then stitching them together into a video, adding the soundtrack, AND compressing it slightly. Can't ask it to do all that and be light on resources.

I've been a proponent of zscreen for a long time now. However, for quick integrated annotations I prefer shotty. It's true that zscreen offers more in the way of services, but I personally get more use out of the few features shotty offers that zscreen doesn't.

For scrolling capture in a browser I still have to use Fireshot (works with both Chrome and FF4).
