Hey guys,
I might be getting a new rig, completely new btw, and the absolute most i could afford was a nVIDIA Geforce 7600 Gs.  Does anyone have one or know anything about it that would reinforce my conclusion that this is the best card that i can get for the money?

If its for gaming Don't get it. Save for atleast a 6800 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814143030 Much better for gaming. Or 7900gt  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814143048 even better.

If you absolutely, positively can't save up a few more dollars, and you don't plan on going above 1280x1024, then it should be okay; you may still have to trim down some of the in game settings to maintain playable frame rates.

All the more reason not to get it.

you could go for a 6800 Gt or 6800 Ultra....by the way, u use AGP? if so, u might want to check out the 7800GS for AGP, not a bad price and lot of power to run bf2 on high.

If at all possible save up for the 7900.  I just built a guy a system and his 1 7900 is on par with this other systems dual 6600's SLI system.

The 7900 is a beast that will keep you running games for years to come.

Since everyone seems to be trying to upsell you, how about listing the other parts you plan on putting into this new build. Maybe we can find a way to shift a little more $$$ towards the videocard.

Also, are you planning on keeping the old rig running? If you're not then you could save a good amount of money by transplanting parts to the new rig, like HD, CD/DVD, RAM, sound card, keyboard, mouse etc.

Hey m8, please post your systemsettings here so we can see what will be the best bang for the buck.

If you wanna build a complete new rig, go for a 7600GT (maybe two of them for SLI) or a 7900GT.

The 7600GS isnt a good choice for gaming. Dont go for 6800-series (based on NV43) by now, a 6800Ultra for example is no par for the 7900GT and is only around 30 Bucks cheaper.

Recommended for all 7series, exept the 7900GTX, get a good cooler like Zalman because the referencecooler is pretty loud and doesnt fit for overclocking.
