Why do us and the Brits have asterisks?

EDIT: Interesting to see Japan's corporate tax rate so high. Anyone feel like commenting on that?

EDIT2: Our corporate rate might soon fall to 28%.

Well you'll still get hit with U.S. income taxes and whatever business your does in the U.S. gets taxed to a degree.

This, I'm leaving/moving my company because of taxes!!!! Seems like such an alarmist, reactionary thought/statement.

Right. Because wanting to keep more of what you earn is terrible. Weren't you just on here a few short weeks ago exclaiming that you want to keep what you kill?

Please tell me why it makes any sense whatsoever to force companies to cover the children of employees with health insurance until their 25th birthday.

I'm saying it's a reactionary thought. An irrational emotional driven idea. It has nothing to do with keeping what you earn.

Like I said before, I'm tired of all of this paranoid crap coming from everyone. Humanity has dealt with worst.

no, it's not.  but it is a good excuse right now.   why would businesses expand and hire when the customers don't exist?

Nah, you're wrong. Plenty of people have fled their country of origin for a multitude of reasons over the centuries. Why did your parents or grandparents come here? Work I assume. Mine came here to escape Europe. Leaving because of a crushing tax burden is as good as any other reason.

only thing nice about living abroad with US citizenship is embassy help. Actually it's nice to be a commonwealth citizen too (i can use any embassy of commonwealth countries and get "free" health care in any commonwealth country )

galt you might as well move to aus for work opportunities, low taxes (compared to US) and lower cost of living compared to NYC lol

All a recession is, is a crisis of confidence. People don't feel confident that things are going to get better, that they don't have to worry about losing their job next week, and that it's safe to spend money. Confidence requires stability and this administration has provided none of it since taking office.

It's not really a crushing tax burden. An annoyance sure but not a crushing burden.

And yes you can go live somewhere else but there are things you are going to have to give up or other things you are going to have to put up with if you leave. For that reason, it doesn't make a lot of sense to give up being a U.S. citizen to escape a slight tax increase.

people aren't confident enough in the economy to rack up unsustainable credit card debt and borrow against their house for that sweet set of jet skis?  sounds good to me.

heh a lot of dual citizens usually give up US citizenship. sometimes theres really no point in having it... especially if you have commonwealth or EU based citizenship.

I know, I was the one who made the thread about people giving up their citizenship not too long ago.

It's just that John's positions and views aren't really popular in many other places in the world, at least places you would want to live in. It wouldn't make sense to give up all that and live in a place very culturally and politically different from your birthplace just to escape paying a little bit more money.

Most people realize that, hence why most wealthy American decide to bitch and complain rather than GTFO.

Yes, we should stay in a permanent recession because people are too stupid to care for their finances

Recession for the US is business as usual for the rest of the world.

Your x000 sq ft house hasn't appreciated 20% this year?
You can't afford to trade in one of your 1 year old SUVs for a brand new one?
You're so poor you can only eat out 5 times a week?
Your graphics card is 3 months old and therefore so out of date you want to stick forks in your eyes because you can't upgrade?

Very sorry, time to man up, take off the skirt, grow a moustache and harden the fuck up.

If our recession is business as usual in your country you should drop some of the socialism and regulations on business
