basically - poetry aside - I was looking for the Message - as accurately as it could me translated.
now, hold on right there and think for a minute. you understand what we are talking about here, don't you? - a so called "holy book". you know the purposes for which the likes ot it are usually being created, right? this thing, by definition, cannot contain any sort of unambigious "message" at all, because its very purpose is to be a tool easily adjustable for the situation at hand.
there
are some things and general concepts which are agreed upon by most muslims, yes, like, for example, while christian god is generally beleaved to be
love, islamic god is
justice, but, considering the origins, initial puposes and the circumstances of these two religions having been created, it kinda understandable, don't you think so? the holy books themselves though, being information manipulation instruments, are utter nonsence.
so, i repeat, don't bother reading koran. if you still wish to make an informed opinion, you'd be better off finding some annotations or smthng like that. there are also
hadiths - basically, stories about prophet mohammed - those are also very important in islam. even lthough not every branch of islam recognizes all the hadiths - for an outsider without special education it's actually almost impossible to know which is which - the purpose of those
is making koran and the life of the prophet easier to understand for the common folk and thus hadiths are, supposedly, easily translated.
