The way I see it, the ideal is for people to only be offended by actions that are more personal -- like when your spouse cheats on you, or a friend lies to you.

When people can be angered with a mere word, or a burning flag, or a burning book, or a cartoon... Well, that's giving far too much power and value to a symbol.

The things that matter the most in this world are the intangibles. A violation of my trust is a much graver offense to me than a mere label, for example.

I live in rural oregon. I know these churches and I know the people who attend these churches. They're a bunch of fundamentalist idiots.
