Just got my copy of Tool's new album today and was wondering if there were any other fans of Tool who frequent this site? I know not everyone likes Tool but from a musical standpoint 10,000 days really puts them in a class above (in my extremely humble opinion).

Post some thoughts on Tool, good or bad and let me know what you think about any of their albums (but especially the new one).

Best,

I don't visit the site too much...but I am a fan of Tool.  Been too long for them to release somethin, even tho A Perfect Circle came out with a new one last summer, it just isn't the same.  Anyways, my fav. song on 10,000 days would be number 5, The Pot...just love that song, good times.

On a small side note, they are playing in Phoenix tomorrow night, and my brother was gonna go, but tickets sold out in under 3 minutes.  My bro would kill to go...tryin to win some for him on the radio...but no hope so far.  He's a huge fan...he has been to 3 SOaD concerts lately, he wants to mix it up with some tool...and he'll die if he don't go.    Just had to throw that in.

Similar story in the Uk ... tickets for their shows sold out in minutes although if you go on their website it says not to worry as this first tour is going to be repeated in some form

I downloaded the CD last night and listened to it once then and on my way to work this morning.  It really is an awesome CD.  I will buy it once the Red Hot Chili Peppers new one comes out to kill two birds with one stone.

The tix for the show in Denver were pretty much bought out by out of state dealers and are selling for 4 to 5 times the base price.  It's really sad that it happens, but they are only playing a venue that can handle 3,000 people.

I'm not a Tool fan, but I'm not anti-tool on that same note.
I've heard that their new album doesn't do anything their last one didn't do (i.e. it's no different), although I haven't listened to either so I wouldn't know.
Any comments from an objective viewpoint from someone who's heard it?

I bought it yesterday, as part of my girlfriend's graduation gift.
Graduation party is today.
Last night I had to cut my hands off so I wouldn't open it & rip it.
I'm typing this with my toes.

On a new cd note, Pearl Jam's new one came out the same day, and being a huge PJ fan (big red pj tattoo n' all) I recommend - if you like rock music, that is.  I had to listen to it twice to get into, but now I can't stop listening to it.

I heard the new tool, its pretty good, but then again I'm not a real big tool fan.  On a side note, they played last night in Oakland, my buddy flew up there specifically for it.  Some little bar for like 150 people.  I guess they are doing a bunch of small shows before their tour, thats what he said anyway.  I know they just played Coachella, few of my buddies went specifically for them, said they were awesome.

Downloaded it, listened to it, loved it, bought it!

Just.. ..wow.. You can't compare it to Lateralus, just as you can't compare Lateralus and Aenima, it's just.. ...wow...

Wings for Marie/10,000 days (wings pt.2).. ..damn.. ..definitely worth the wait, eventhough I'd want more!

I think 10000 days is a good album but Aenima was in a totally different league.  I saw Tool tour Aenima at the Offshore festival in Torquay, Victoria and it was the best show i've ever seen by far.

I agree with everything you've said.

On another note, as a bass player, I'm really pleased to see Justin Chancellor has significantly upped his game - and he was having a damn good game anyway

What makes me love the album even more is that I've also just got the Chili's new album and it appears to be a pile of shite. Anthony Kiedis is an idiot ... Reminds me a little of Fred Durst and Limp Bizkit ... one front man bringing down his vastly more talented band mates

I just really got into Tool.. umm... last week. I've had the CDs but then I listened to aenima about 5 times through and read up about the jungian theory and everything and realized this band was something different. BUt alas, as a 16 year old I have no dinero para el disc compacto... So I must wait for my friend to let me borrow it for like 5 seconds while I slap it on iTunes.

I'm British too mate ... what does that have to do with anything? Moreover, why does their name effect the quality of their music?

I love Pearl Jam to no end, but I thought that Eddies voice sounded like SHIT on Worldwide Suicide.  You can tell he's getting up there in age and the rock star in him is dying.  I actually cringed the first time I heard that song because it sounded so bad up against his older stuff.

Tool.  I like Tool, but the new songs on the album sound just like the old songs from the last album.  I think they make such a stir because they wait so long to release new material that it seems like everytime they do it's some kind of gift from God or something.

Tool has changed, the cd is good - too much down songs though - not everythings interesting like the prev albums.  I'll listen to Aenima or Lateralus anyday over 10,000 Days.

been a fan since the late 90's.  Aenima is probably my favorite album of all time.  i actually wore the CD out, to the point that it shattered in a CD player, of course i went out the same day and picked up another copy.  i grabbed 10,000 days yesterday, played through it once, good stuff, i have to let it grow on me a little.  i prefer the relentless, heavy drive on Aenima, but i do like and own all of their other albums.
