He's a journalist, reporting from the other side of a conflict. As long as he's not actively participating in the conflict, and he is not using his Norwegian credentials to aid the other side in any way, more power to him.
History really does need both sides of the story to paint an accurate picture.
Now the risk he runs, being embedded with Taliban fighters, and looking like a Taliban fighter is significant. If one of those US convoys they hit actually has proper fire support, his ass is going to get properfucked. Unless he can whip out a 20 foot tall neon sign flashing "Reporter" over his head in a couple milliseconds, he's going to get smoked like the rest of the people he's embedded with.
As Duke Nukem would say,
"Balls of Steel!"And, to the OP, yes, even the Taliban fighters are human. A particularly nasty, violent, virulent kind of humanity that fully deserves to be wiped off the face of the planet. And that is not a frivolous judgement on my part. Simple equation, though - they would kill me for who I am (Atheist, American, Jewish last name), so it's simply a matter of
"no, you first". If we cannot live in peace, and we cannot ignore each other, then someone has to go.
