Yes, only one side of any story should be told. Taliban fighters are indeed not human beings so humanizing them is comparable to trying to humanize a goldfish. It just doesn't work.

It would be less of an issue if it weren't for the fact that Norway has troops in Afghanistan.

Since when were they not terrorists and instead people defending their homeland? The Taliban never were terrorists, they're the former ruling party. Any one of us would be fighting if our country were invaded and we were kicked out of power with a puppet government installed. AQ are the terrorists, not the Taliban. Are they fucked up in their own right? Yes. Did they probably deserve to be kicked out of power? Yes. Fighting to restore their power still doesn't make them terrorists.

Journalists can do whatever they like. This one obviously doesn't have a whole lot of patriotism or nationalism coursing through their veins. Still not illegal or immoral.

But he's not. Hell, I commend the guy because maybe one day we'll end up with a balanced history instead of a completely biased one. Hopefully he's one of the rare few that can embed himself for history's sake and not because he feels like doing this allows him to take a shot at the US.

He's a journalist, reporting from the other side of a conflict.  As long as he's not actively participating in the conflict, and he is not using his Norwegian credentials to aid the other side in any way, more power to him.

History really does need both sides of the story to paint an accurate picture.

Now the risk he runs, being embedded with Taliban fighters, and looking like a Taliban fighter is significant.  If one of those US convoys they hit actually has proper fire support, his ass is going to get properfucked.  Unless he can whip out a 20 foot tall neon sign flashing "Reporter" over his head in a couple milliseconds, he's going to get smoked like the rest of the people he's embedded with.

As Duke Nukem would say, "Balls of Steel!"

And, to the OP, yes, even the Taliban fighters are human.  A particularly nasty, violent, virulent kind of humanity that fully deserves to be wiped off the face of the planet.  And that is not a frivolous judgement on my part.  Simple equation, though - they would kill me for who I am (Atheist, American, Jewish last name), so it's simply a matter of "no, you first".  If we cannot live in peace, and we cannot ignore each other, then someone has to go.

And how isn't this propaganda?  You guys are actually trying to make a case for these terrorists.  Do you guys know what they do to people?  Do I need to mention all the atrocities they have committed?

You all should be ashamed of yourselves aiding and abetting the enemy.  I hope to God that you don't have anyone you know in those convoys or anyone in Pakistan or Afghanistan that has been affected by the Taliban.

This, to me, is not free speech, this is treasonous.  You don't, for example, have the right to yell fire in a crowded movie theater nor should should have the right to aid our enemies as they kill American citizens (or anyone in NATO), in the convoy.

This is war.

The minute that journalist turned on his camera as NATO troops were killed he became a Taliban sympathizer and no longer a journalist; he might as well have been pulling the trigger on the guns.

I wonder how many Norwegians were in that convoy?

Firstly, did I miss the memo when the Taliban were terrorists? They were a political movement in Afghanistan, and then became an insurgency against invading forces...

Secondly, What makes reporters embedded with coalition forces acceptable but reporters embedded with the Taliban not?

Thirdly, I find it funny that you are telling people who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan that they should be ashamed and are aiding then enemy. What the fuck have you done that means you can sit on your high and mighty horse and judge others

Yes, I know what they do to people. Four generations of my family have been to that region while wearing an American uniform.

Accusations of "aiding and abetting the enemy" are more charged than you may realize.
I would advise you never utter such in a room with any military veterans in it.
It would be preferable to begin loudly bragging about what manner of beastial and lewd acts you would like to commit to all of those veterans wives, mothers, and sisters before throwing about accusations of treason, or "aiding and abetting the enemy"

I would just as soon see the Taliban wiped from the Earth for their evils, but I've no problem with a western journalist documenting their story.  If you understand an evil, perhaps it won't be repeated.  Like Nazi Germany.  Let them tell their side of the story, so people can see firsthand what kind of assholes they really are.  Let them condemn themselves, in their own words, for all of posterity to see.
