Um, kay. Well it's really based on opinion here, and some people like it, so to each their own.
Ya know a gun is only as good as the person using it, so maybe the problem is you.
I love my medic unlock.
i have it, but its too weak for my taste so i use my trusty m16
but i have seen and been killed by many people with this weapon, so good for them=D

Stylus, I would go for the medic gun, only because Engineers shouldn't be fighting in the front lines anyways. If you are an engineer that likes heavy combat, than by all means, take the Jackhammer, but if you prefer to play engineer as (I feel) it should be played, than take the medic gun. While Im not particuraly fond of the L85, it might serve you better than a gun like the Jackhammer, a self-defense based weapon, would.
I use the L85 for most of today, I had the unlock for a few weeks but never used it. I have found it quite good...in single fire. Its ok in auto, but it is much more effective in single.

i'd rather use the unlock of med instead of the rediculous one/three shot burst m16 that for me is the worst weapon in the game. i'd use the l85a1 despite its horrid color and its accuracy.
i personally have been good with the base medic weapons. don't get me wrong i love my L85A1 upgrade...just saying that the better improvement as far as kits go IMO would be the jackhammer. True if the engineer is forced to use his weapon somethings gone terribly wrong. Either his armour has been destroyed, but he got out, or he's been put in an aweful position while on defense or repairing. That being said, things have gone bad...why not be able to take some of them with you quickly? And the jackhammer is a seriously dangerous weapon (up close).stylus wrote:

any skilled engi already had better be decent with the pistol. be prepared to use it too if you burn thru your cylinder quickly, and you will sometimes.
i dont rate it much but its way better that the stock usmc gun

As for the L85A1, it's an awesome mid-range sniper weapon, and to tell the truth, a proper medic should be hanging back a bit...I can't count how many times I've dropped into prone and domed three or more flag raiders in semi-auto mode from about 150 yds. If you like to fire in a controlled, precise fashion, the L85A1 is pretty cool. If you want a really powerful burst weapon, get something else. The L85A1 can pick off people running around on burst, but only do so if they're wounded, about to disappear around a corner and you have a good shot.

The medic gun is fine!!! You just have to learn to use it - just like everything else...pratice=champ.

The L85 on automatic setting is my favorite gun in BF2. Very shiny.
I cannot even begin to fathom how people can use it semi-automatic though, way too inaccurate for that. But, my opinion.

I've gotten better accuracy with the L85A1 on semi-auto than with the M-16 or AK-101...but you're right. All a matter of opinion.

I love the L85 for one very simple reason... Snipers. If theres a sniper about, all you need do is whack it on single shot mode, bung a load of heal packs on the floor, strafe around your heal packs till the sniper takes a pot shot at you (as you're moving chances are he wont get a headshot, so you live, and still have full health as your pre-dropped packs insta heal you) now you have aprox 3 seconds to go prone (again on your heal packs) and fire a couple shots his way. 9/10 times the sniper loses when I do this :-)
Sure you can do it with the standard guns, but I find the L85 way more accurate over sniping distances, so long as you use it like you would a sniper rifle.

blah all you people saying the m16 sucks don't know how to use it. I prefer the M16 over both the G3 and the L85. first off the M16 has a much faster firing rate than most guns in the game so if u know how to click fast your unloading just as fast maybe faster than, the ak's and the L85. It is far more accurate than either of these and can easily take down a sniper. you can fire in semi auto faster with less loss of accuracy with it as well. but all in all, I would take the ak 101 over any gun in the game......
i have them all. i dont think there is much difference with any.
I like to see how I usually get killed, what weapon they're using, a lot of times it's the L85A1, I thought they were supposed to be in a caring profession
