Well, not really a story, but I couldn't help but hear the conversation at the next table. Old dude, probably 70 years old or so, was sitting at dinner talking up a storm with a guy that I assume was his son. The old dude was going on and on and on about a water tower they are tearing down in his hometown and how he's upset because the posting for the public meeting to discuss it was held in secret (the posting was listed in the state capital's newspaper ) and he didn't get a chance to voice his concerns or give his opinion. He was really riled up about this and was saying how he was going to write his Senator and call Albany (the capital) and get the State Attorney General to look into the matter. He's pissed because it was decided that the people that live in the town will pay for it's demolition.
So after about a half hour of his harangue his son asks him how much it will cost to tear down this water tower... $200,000. He's bitching about $200k, thinks it's unfair to spread the cost among the 4200 households that live in the town and use the water tower. Yes my friends, he is so irate about having to pay less than $50 extra in property taxes next year that he plans on complaining to whoever he can in order to get the cost spread around among a larger population, a population which sees no benefit from the tower to begin with...
Thankfully his revelation came as I was finishing my meal because I would've embarrassed him in front of his son if I was forced to listen to his bitching any longer. Why do people bitch about everything? I just don't get it.

"Ah, you miserable creatures! You who think that you are so great! You who judge humanity to be so small! You who wish to reform everything! Why don't you reform yourselves? That task would be sufficient enough."
