A pair of KRK Rokit RP5G2s.

http://www.amazon.com/KRKRP5-Powered-St … amp;sr=8-4

Bought 'em about 10 days ago, but my replacement just showed up, one of them was DOA. Must say, I'm very pleased. Missing a little bit of my low low bass but the number of songs that include bass that low are pretty insignificant. Sound great, probably even better when I switch to an external sound card or DAC.

Bevo is learning. Make sure you have them connected with balanced cables when you get a DAC. Also they need around 200 hours of burn in, after that they will sound approx 25% better. Sub really gives another dimension to these, you should consider it.

They came with XLRs so I'll be using those when I get a DAC. The only problem with the sub is it's another 400, and I only work part time in the summer, it would be a big hit to my available cash.

ed: 400, not 300.

No kidding, I have to drop the AC adapter out of my laptop so I don't get a shitton of static coming out of them. -_-

yeah AC power is dirty, especially out of a cheap wall wart.

I don't frickin care if it was a quantum datastorage device made of solid unobtainium... 60GB is just TOO little unless you still use DOS as your main OS...

you can install a second HDD in a T series
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

This, plus he'll be running some distro of Linux, which doesn't take up any space, and I don't think he's going to be downloading onto it. 60GB is fine for a secondary computer.

Thinkpad. Ideapad is the cheapo brand of Lenovo.

Linux runs awesomely on Thinkpads. It's great

I'd quite happily stick 40/60 GB SSD in my laptop, I have ubuntu on it, and I don't download onto it.

I don't download much on my laptop either, but damn, I couldn't even live with 60gig on my netbook

I'm running a 160GB hdd (157GB Formatted), of which 130.5 is free. That's with Xubuntu, and some videos on it.

I couldn't live with ubuntu day-to-day...

but less than 160GB for windows, pictures, music, videos, etc. etc. is just too cramped...

I like having some headroom too...

But you wouldn't have Windows, pictures, music, videos or 'etc'. The point being it'd be for internet and working, using your computer for the rest..
