A 460 is a HTPC card? Wtf, a HTPC card is like a 4850 or less.

Does seem a bit crazy, 4 things I'd want in a HTPC card are passive cooling, low power consumption, small size and be capable of 1080p. As most HTPCs are tiny, a 460 wouldn't fit, if it did a PSU to run it probably wouldn't and the fan would be annoying. I'd go for something much cheaper probably a low profile 4350 with a passive cooler.Finray wrote:
I'm still interested why that article though a 460 would be a good HTCP card.
Wouldn't an ION mITX platform or even one of the newer socket 1156 intel mITX with onboard (don't remember specific model) gfx card... I think it was a 4200 something gfx chip...TheEternalPessimist wrote:

ION setups are ok for stuff playing in something like MPCHC, that actually uses the GPU for video playback, try and play HD video in anything else (HD stream from youtube for example) and it gets dumped on the CPU, usually come pissy little Atom thing, and they fail hard with 1080p, at least the one I was fucking about with at work did.FloppY_ wrote:

I didn't answer your question, because I don't know. I think it'd be able to do video and audio over one HDMI, but I'm not sure, hence why I didn't answer specifically..
Yeah Intel has some sweet mITX boards.. the 1156 / 775 would be able to run passive if you fit a big enough heatsink, don't go much higher than i3 and don't overclock..TheEternalPessimist wrote:

No idea about the other board, as you can chuck any CPU in then they'd be fine I'd imagine.
been a while since using xp but if you go to control panel and updates you should find some sort of options that says "fuck off" to the popupFatherTed wrote:
not worth a thread; my peecee must have d/l'd some updates for windows XP and now it wants to restart. i dont actuallly wanna restart for a few hours yet this fucking popup appears every 5mins causing bf2/pr/eve/whatever to minimise (bf2 in particular hates this). is there any way short of restarting that i can make this popup fuck off permanantly?
using XP pro i think.
