the dealer getting killed in queens was sad as hell, actually. never felt i'd feel empathy for such a 'stereotype'-- you know, you just mentally marginalize black drug-dealers in the new york projects as a sort of tv-character or ridiculous cliche, but there's loads of them with real families and real problems. the program really made you see straight how the line 'didnt have a choice' isnt just an excuse for criminal behaviour. those guys really have no other choice than to grind. this one guy had a newborn daughter after just coming out of prison, in a programme to make sure he didn't reoffend or go back to his block... but the thing is, with criminal records, the only job he's getting is $7.50/hour in mcdonalds, with 24% of that paypacket then seized by the state for child-care. nigga's making slave-wages. deal on his block with his people and he's making $15,000 a week. it's no contest.
